A:  A positive placement nailer will be your best bet

by|Oct 29, 2023

A:  Hi John. For joist hangers, and other metal hardware, we recommend Paslode Positive Placement Metal Connector systems like the Pneumatic 1–1/2" Positive Placement® Metal Connector Nailer (F150S-PP, SKU #515850) which are designed to place hardened tip metal connector nails accurately through the designated holes. Thank you, Paslode.

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi Mike, Fuel is not provided in the tool case upon purchase due to shipping regulations. You can purchase the Framing Fuel separately (part number 816008) or in a range of Paslode Fuel & Nail Packs that have 1 fuel cell in the box for every 1000 nails. Thank you, Paslode.

            Barely better than older models
The claim the make about sinking flush into lvl isn't accurate. If you have older ones don't bother for the so called upgrade. I bought 2 and regret it.

I've got a lot of battery operated nailers which include: brad and finish nails and crown stapler. I read the directions and my brain just skipped the part about the fuel cartridge probably because the others don't require anything but the air power that the batteries provide. I couldn't figure out what was wrong to I asked and found out that the fuel cartridge is needed along with the battery. The battery provides the spark that ignites the fuel. When I got the fuel cartridge installed, it works wonderfully. Just like the other battery operated, you don't have to drag out the compressor and the electric cord. Just make sure your battery is charged, and you have a fuel cartridge for this one. I had a few 2 inch nails that I missed putting in when I was doing the project. Take the gun out and bam, bam, done. I also did some repair on a door to the chicken coop. A couple of nails in it and it was fixed. All in the time it would have taken me to drag out the compressor and cord. The gun is about 2 pounds lighter and has much less kick than the pneumatic one that Paslode makes. Yes I have the pneumatic one too. If you are looking for your first framing nailer, you might want to get this one.

The Paslode Cordless Framing Hammer is a tool that I have wanted for a long time. Several of my contractor friends have them and love the versatility this tool brings to the job site. I have used a Air Framing Nailer for many years as I've built additions, remodeled and completed projects. Hauling out the compressor, getting power, dragging air hoses around...no more! The Paslode Framing Nailer doesn't need the compressor, hoses, or electricity on site. Using the Gas Cartridge and the rechargeable battery, it's simple to start any project. Biggest con for this tool is the gas cartridges. The tip on the first one was broken inside the nozzle and was useless. Also, several have remarked about the cartridges being of no use when they are old. This tool doesn't come with a gas cartridge in the case, so buy one before leaving the store and check the date on the bottom of the cartridge. I'm still experimenting with the power and depth settings of the nails. More use will help there. You may want to take some white paint and rub in the depth settings as they are hard to read.

While I’ve never used a Paslode nailer before I have used their nails in other brands of cordless nailers I own without issue. Paslode has been one of the original hose-less nailers and has a great reputation. I chose this based on that when choosing a framing nailer. This is a 30* and uses paper collated nails that are slightly more expensive then the 21* plastic collated ones but the 30* allows better access into tight quarters especially when needing to toe-nail joists. This nailer came well packaged in a very durable protective case. It came with the nailer, 1 battery, charger, safety glasses and a well written manual. The case has ample room to hold up to 4 batteries and 2 fuel cells in addition to what you already have in the gun. Ample supplies for a full day or more of framing. The nailer even came Pre-loaded with 1 strip of nails. What it doesn’t come with is the fuel cell required to shoot the nails. You can buy them separately for around $12 each or combined with a pack of 1000 nails (which is what I did). Paslode says each fuel cell can shoot up to 1200 nails so I feel the pack with 1000 nails and 1 fuel is perfect. I charged up the battery and inserted it into the nailer as well as a fuel cell and proceeded to fire nails into some scrap 2x4’s. All the nails went in perfectly with no misfires or protrusions. While I haven’t used this extensively it seems to work well and reliably. There is no “ramp up” time between shots like other battery only cordless units. I was able to fire nails as quickly as I was able to move along the wood. The hook on the back of the nailer is great. It is 2 position. One it sits with less gap and is perfect for hooking onto a tool belt while climbing a ladder or maneuvering around. The other larger position is great for hanging it over 2x material. Overall I’m very happy I chose this nailer and expect years of trouble free use from it.

With quite a bit of experience using pneumatic tools and nailers specifically, switching to cordless power tools one expects them to be battery powered. While the Paslode CFN325XP requires a battery (for spark), it is powered by an internal combustion engine that requires a Liquid hydrocarbon fuel cell. Since this is radically different than pneumatic, I read the operating manual cover-to-cover twice; and then I watched Paslode and Home Depot videos on this nailer before actually using it. One of the first things I learned is Paslode continually improves this nailer's design. Due to the technology that went into creating this nailer, I would never consider using batteries, fuel cells, or nails that were not genuine Paslode branded. My applications for this nailer are wood framing and deck construction. Now it is the exact same construction with NO Compressor, NO hoses, NO electricity, NO oiling, and even slightly less weight. The toe nailing teeth enable nailing from multiple angles, and can even be changed out to no-mar type. The depth adjustment is toolless which saves a lot of time and insures accurate nail-head depth. Loading the fuel cell is simple and straight-forward. The battery has two positions. When inserted completely, it is ready to fire. When set in the "OFF" position, the safety is on as it will not fire in that position. Loading a strip of nails is the same as other framing nailers except the follower has been improved to lock back while loading. This Paslode product is made in the USA and comes with 2-year hassle-free service.

This framing nailer from Paslode is an absolute must for anyone needing a nailer and you don't want to purchase a compressor. Assemble by charging and inserting the battery and fuel and fasteners of your choice....press the work contact element where you are nailing or fastening and squeeze the trigger. Easy! The nail/fastener tool is awesome. No compressor needed and with the fuel, you can place up to 1200 nails/fastener. I also purchased the Paslode combo pack so I'd have extra fuel, nails and the cleaning product to keep the nailer working well. I love that the depth can be easily adjusted and the battery can be placed in stand-by once charged and inserted into the nailer/fastener. The fuel smells a like butane, but it is not a strong odor. Definitely, follow all safety measures included in the manuals. They are very thorough. Also, wear ear protection because nailers are a little loud. Overall, this is an excellent product and easy to use.

For anyone new to Paslode, you need a consumable fuel cell (about $12 and supposedly drives around 1,200 nails) which goes in the back of the nailer near the air filter, in addition to the battery which goes into the handle. The fuel cell does not come with the nailer, the battery and charger do. Easily drives 3 1/4 x .131 framing nails flush or better in dry doug fir. I used this to fasten cross-bracing on my garage roof trusses. Much easier walking around on the trusses with the Paslode than dragging an air hose through the truss webbing. I wish I had this sooner- much easier than being tethered to a compressor.

I am impressed by the simplicity, power, portability and efficiency of this Paslode cordless nailer. The “kit” includes a heavy duty case, Paslode nailer CFN325XP, battery, battery charger, Allen wrench and safety glasses. The case includes compartments for fuel cells. The fuel cell is sold separately. The nailer requires the fuel cell to operate. The fuel cells are marked with a “use before” date. The fuel cells may have 24 -27 months of storage life and would have to be replaced even if not used. The fuel cell is loaded into the cell cartridge compartment and the battery inserted into the battery compartment. When both are loaded, the nailer is ready to use. The battery has two “push settings”: a “standby” and “on”. The required nails are 30 degree and the nailer will accommodate nail sizes of 2 inches to 3 ¼ inches, paper collation strips. A strip of nails is loaded in the nail magazine. Insertion and removal are simple and easy steps. There is a depth of drive adjustment to adjust how deep the nail head penetrates. Press the contact head against the surface, press the trigger and drive the nail. I used Paslode 2 3/8 inch framing nails and they went through 2 X 4 test boards so quickly and smoothly I initially had to check to make sure the gun actually fired the nails. I adjusted the depth of drive and the head of the nail was flush with the board. I don’t do a lot of structure framing but will build or assemble projects and this cordless Paslode really beats a hammer and nails, and there is no air compressor and hoses to pull around. The fuel cells cost about $12 each but last a long time. Paslode says the fuel cell will drive approximately 1,200 fasteners, and provides the amazing driving power. The initial battery charge is 1.5 hours and subsequent recharges will range from 5 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the length of time the battery was discharged. The nailer weighs about 7 pounds but does not feel heavy and is easy to maneuver. It is not cheap, but it is very good quality, powerful, very portable and does an excellent job of nail fastening without the air compressor.

Really great framing nailer with no need for an air compressor. At the end of this review is an overview and demonstration video I put together. The nailer is a large tool but at 7.2 lbs, it is very light and it drives nails fast enough to keep up with a rapid pace. You do need to buy fuel cells for this nailer and maintain batteries but the convenience can outweigh the extra cost over time. This can handle 30 degree nails of lengths 2" - 3-1/4" and gauge between .113 and .131. The angle makes this nailer good for tight spots in framing. This nailer is also great for fencing, which I have primarily used it with. It is operated with a battery and fuel cell (sold separately). The fuel cell can fire up to 1,200 nails and the battery can last through 9,000 nails. Depth adjustment is easy with pulling two tabs and jams have been rare for me, but can be cleared quickly by removing the magazine cover. Of note, when buying and using the fuel cell, make sure you check the "best by" date at the bottom of the cylinder. An expired cylinder will not perform as well. The nailer can operate down to 14F in temperature. Framing nailers are best suited for professionals but some DIYers as well. Sometimes I just wish nails came in boxes of less than 2,500 nails. The kit comes with the nail gun, battery/charger, hex wrench for jams, eye protection (please wear it), instructions and a nice tough hard case. Designed and assembled in the USA, battery made in Japan, charger made in China.

Amazing gun i love how light is work great but my big problem is not buy the gas is smell the gas all the time when i use. I don't know the reason but every time I used it I came home with a sore throat, I was worried and I didn't feel comfortable, unfortunately I returned it for that reason. I use milwaukee framing gun and my arm hate me after that. Paslode is perfect just the gun it’s no for me!
