How close to a structure can I put the outside unit? What is the minimum clearance? One of the photos shows the front 20" from the wall of a structure - and the unit is <14" deep. Does that mean the minimum clearance is only 6"?
ByFeb 2, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

FRONT needs to have minimum 6 FEET clearance from any obstruction. Rear and sides need to have clearance enough for servicing and cleaning.. 20" inches is the minimal recommended clearance for those sides.

Why is the air handler pre-charged and not the condenser or are they both charged?
ByJan 17, 2025
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Air handler can not be precharged. It has been flushed and charged with dry nitrogen only to keep the internal circuits clean until it is installed. Outdoor section carries the refrigerant needed for standard installations, which may need to be adjusted.

    Awesome affordable system
Purchased the system to heat and cool my 1200 square foot insulated shop. I am thoroughly satisfied and impressed with how quickly this system cools my shop down and has been keeping it warm in the winter for all of my outdoor plants! It is quiet, powerful and the install went flawlessly. My installation crew did a great job in a horizontal install. I especially appreciate the 6-in thick filters, they really keep the dust down in my shop. Would certainly buy one again, in fact when it comes time to replace our house air conditioners it will certainly look at this system again.

High quality copper coils, well constructed cabinet, quiet and very powerful air handler motor. Quiet outdoor unit, easy to install, plenty of space. Only issues: a little tight around the outdoor line set- had to remove a screw to fit gauges. Wish outdoor unit had small port similar to inside unit for com wire rather than another 3/4 conduit connection. Wish feet (either front or back) had wide slotted holes to allow some tolerance for mounting bracket. Overall; great unit. Highly recommended

      Cautiously Optimistic
This is my first central split unit from pioneer, but I have bought one of their multi split mini units before and was very pleased. The unit itself is very powerful, has multiple fan speed settings, and is simple to install if you have experience. Longevity and service wise remains to be seen. No local companies are affiliated with Pioneer, but their tech support has been prompt and helpful regarding the other unit I previously purchased, so I am cautiously optimistic about this unit!

        2 Thumbs Up
Make sure you have this unit professionally installed. To replace our old energy hog would have been close to $10,000 and this Unit is less than half the cost of the old Unit and twice as energy efficient. Heat strip is a must have and will warm our 2,000 sq ft house from 64 degrees to to 70 degrees in about 30 minutes. Our HVAC man is now recommending these units to his customers.

          Not Worth It
I purchased this unit March 2022. The PCB was out. Pioneer sent a replacement. Hooked it up. The blower motor was shot the heater coils over heated and then heat fried the transformer. Now I am looking at basically rebuilding the entire insides of the air handler. Pioneer does not have a certified tech in the Houston area, so I am out the cost of a Tech every time it has to get looked at. Tried to get a refund from Home Depot they say I have to deal with Pioneer.
