I placed the charcoal around the entire permiter of the grill. Once the charcoal is fully lit we placed the pizza stone on the frame to preheat. Then we added three wood chunks to the top of the charcoal 10 minutes before we start baking. The temperature registered between 750 - 775. You have to really keep an eye on it so they don't burn.
No, there is no door that I know of and if there is one I did not receive it. Pizza kit works well as is and I don’t see a need for a door.
I have an Akorn and no, not really. The hinged Akorn lid won't work with the stainless steel body of this thing, which is meant to extend the grill height all the way around the grill. So the lid can't be permanently attached to the body.
