Dear Valued Home Depot Customer, We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is, Thanks for your interest in Procidic. We agree that managing fire blight is a tenacious task. Procidic is broad spectrum, we have worked with the Erwinia pathogen on other crops before as well as on apples. When tested against fire blight on apples, the efficacy of the product was statistically slightly lower than the antibiotics used as reference. This should be expected and it is not “apples to apples” comparison, no pun intended, as Procidic is an organic input whereas antibiotics are not. When using antibiotics it’s important to also bear in mind the drawback of how prone are antibiotics to generate resistance on microorganisms, hence the addition of Procidic to your treatment will help manage the disease, perhaps not as marked as Streptomycin, but it will most definitely help the latter to remain a valid tool for longer as Procidic would also work as resistance generation breaking tool.
