Answer

We do not place a rating on the vice in that orientation as it was not designed to be used that way.

Can the chain be extended?

Asked by davidtxweld December 23, 2013
1
Answer

We do not recommend extending the cable on our vises as they have the correct length for the capacity off the vise. We do offer replacement chains in case your has broken and we also offer links for repair. We do offer tristand chain vises with a 12 inch capacity if you would be interested in that option. Those can be found on our website www.ridgid.com or more information can be obtained by calling 888-743-4333. Thank you RIDGID

is this ok for mounting on bumper of truck

Asked by Freezepop October 8, 2013

Answers

This version is perfect for mounting to a bumper or 2" square tube for a receiver hitch. This version is slightly smaller than standard industrial shop version and lends itself well to mounting in tighter locations. Remember to mount it oriented to allow longer length of pipe to go side-to-side. Use of 5/16" carriage bolts from top down allows smooth upper working surface.

Can I get an extension for the chain on this vise?

Asked by Dave October 7, 2012
1
Answer

No we do not offer extensions on this vise. It is rated to only do 2" pipe and anything bigger would be a safety issue and void the warranty. we do offer bigger vises of the same style up to 8".

Product works well
This chain vise was easy to mount. I mounted it to a sturdy block of wood and clamp it into a portable work saw horse. It holds the pipe secure even while cutting threads.

This Pipe Vice Ridgid BC210A #40185 description is incorrect. The description of it states that it has neoprene jaws for plastic pipe. This pipe vice is made for metal pipe and has metal jaws only. I ordered it and it only came with sharp metal jaws that can damage plastic PVC pipe. Several sellers of this pipe vice are making this same mistake and listing it as having plastic coated jaws. If you need the Ridgid model for plastic pipe the number for it is BC210P #40190.

This holds great while manually cutting threads in 3/4 in iron pipe! My fairly hefty standard vise used to slip, but this completely eliminated the problem.
