Q:Can I connect a back up battery to this?
    by|Nov 11, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  We recommend an additional DC pump in the pit that is battery powered such as the Wayne ESP25N model. We do not recommend that our AC pumps be ran on convertors or generators.

Q:Can I use this pump in a pond fountain
        by|Sep 14, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  This is a sump pump designed to be installed in a basement to pump clear run off water that filters down thru a drain tile. They are made for automatic on and off operation. You would need to find a pond pump or fountain pump that is designed to run for hours and is preferable oil free.

High GPM pump that works well
Our church has one of the Ridgid 1HP pumps installed in an outdoor concrete large tank where a French drain system drains to. A recent heavy rain overwhelmed the capacity of the pump. We just added a 2nd identical pump and increased pipe size to 2". The 1.5" pipe with smaller check valve limits water flow greatly on this pump. It needs a longer extension cord.

There is rust on the bottom of the pump
After only a week, the bottom of the pump has a ton of rust. The screws that are on the bottom as well as the bottom base of the pump are rusty. Seriously?! This is a sump pump designed to be submerged in water! How could this possibly be a thing?! Is there a newer model without rust or did I get an old version?

              Ridgid Workhorse
Unfortunately, the builders did a terrible job with the grading of my yard and coupled with a high water table means a LOT of water in the my sump basin when we have heavy rains. I replaced my old system with this 1/2 hp model and a new battery backup in June of 2020 and this pump has been a workhorse. It’s nothing for this pump to cycle every minute for hours during an extreme rain event and this pump has handled those events with ease. No problem pumping about 12ft up and out in seconds. I would buy another Ridgid pump.

                Failed after three months
I'd been very happy with this pump as it's quiet and quite powerful. Unfortunately, it failed miserably during its first major stress test. We had lots of water flowing into our basement after a recent storm and the float switch stopped working, causing our basement to flood. The float lifts but seems to get stuck just short of where it triggers the pump. I'm able to manually engage it and it will work for a while but it eventually gets stuck again. Also, the power cord is too short.

1 year later- failed = flood
Should have learned the 1st time when pump went bad less than 2 years of purchase. However, needed a pump quick so ran to Depot for Another Rigid ( Shame on me) This 2nd pump lasted a year!! I don’t get how a submersible pump rusts out!? Stopped working & flooded basement! Thank god I planned accordingly when finishing basement and raised floor to prevent damage to finished side. Sump 80% of time is dry, baffled on quality! Unfortunately I would be using Rigid pumps anymore, after tons of research ended up with a Zoeller

                    Sump pump for noobs!
Super easy to install. Our builder didnt clean the sump pit out and there was 2 inches of dirt and rocks and building materials which were sucked up in our old pump. Very easy install unscrew the old one cleaned out the pit installed and filled as per instructions and pump removed about 25 gallons of water in less than 5 seconds. Super quite as well.

Easy-Peasy and super quiet for this size pump. I'm pumping the water under 10ft to the outside and this 1/2 HP unit more than handles that. Direct swap for pre-existing Ridgid Pump that started short-cycling unfortunately but was over 5 years old and worked well during that time (there was a bad check valve inline which may have prematurely worn the pump out). The new install took no time. when using rubber couplers between PVC pipes of 1.5 inch and a check valve placed several feet about the pump. I recommend using a 1.5in. NPT to barbed outlet for the pump ~see pic~ (Couldn't find these at the store so went elsewhere for that part)

                    Worked for one week
Purchased this pump to replace my working pump that was making noises. Installed on 12/7/21. Wow was it quiet. So quiet I worried. I checked on it for a week. Well 12/17 it wasn’t working while gone and flooded basement. Ran and got another brand.

                      Great pump
Just replaced our builders Rigid 1/3 hp sump pump from 1990 that was still in operation. New Rigid 1/2 hp pump works great, quiet and easy to install. The old pump speaks volumes for the quality of the Rigid brand.

Connected to old system easy, after I bought a part that for the $300.00 I paid for the pump should have come with it... There was no instructions of how to adjust the float level, so it wouldn't leave 6 inches of water in the hole, but it seems to be a strong pump...
