Lifetime warranty
This is TOOL ONLY will cost another 150 dollars for battery and charger unless you already have another RIDGID 18V battery powered tool. This framing nailer uses 30-34degree clipped head nails holding 60-70 nails. You can shoot roughly 750 nails per charge. This gun has a lifetime service agreement. It weighs a little over nine pounds without the battery so it isn't that lightweight.

Great Features in Hoseless Compressed Air Nailer
On-board air tank powers this nailer so do not have compressed air hose. The instructions state that the on-board tank pressure can be up to 125 psi. This nailer uses 30 degree nail packs (the ones with paper and 1/2 heads) so no plastic waste pieces are produced. 30 degrees allows tighter access than 20 degree nailers that have full-size heads. A hard elastomeric cover fits over the metal framing claw tip to allow use where do not want marks from metal claw tip. I have a remodel project planned where I expect to use both of these to good advantage for both rough framing and then inside. The hex key for the nailer has a secure on-board storage location that includes going around the key rather then relying on just snapping in. The handle has a switch that presses in naturally when the handle is gripped that also needs to be pressed along with the trigger to reduce the possibility of accidental firing. The nail sizes to use are described both on a label and also molded into the product so do not need to dig through the instruction manual. This device weighs more than compressed air nail guns but the hand weight is going to be the same when consider that do not need to horse around a compressed air hose. When I handed it to one of my sons who has worked in construction he commented that its weight felt good to him. I feels fine to me, too, and the balance is very comfortable.

Good job
This gun is a little heavier than my air operated one without the hose attached, so you're not saving any weight, but you are getting rid of the hose anchor. It does seem to be well made even though it is made in an Asian country. I haven't used it on a large project yet, but will be soon. There is a couple things to note. It is a 30-degree gun and at our local Home Depot there was a limited supply of nails. I wanted to try 3-1/2" nails, but they didn't even stock them. The angle will make it nice to get into some places. It has nail depth adjustment that works well and is pretty straightforward in how it works. There is a lockout when you're down to your last couple nails so you don't dry fire it. It has a rubber nose piece that you can remove and then use the jaw nose if needed. You can set it so you shoot single nails or set it for sequential nailing, and the feature is done with a slide switch and can't be any easier to use. I used 3" nails to do some nailing and it worked good. For some reason, it didn't seem to kick back as hard as my air operated one and I was nailing two 2x4" together. The 3" nails did go through with just the tip protruding and the head just under the surface. Perfect for what I was doing.

This is a good nailer. Lost 2 stars due to the weight and confusing marketing
This is a good nailer. I have the cordless nailers from Dewalt, Milwaukee and Hitachi and in terms of speed this up there with the Milwaukee and Hitachi and will fire instantly. No ramp up time. Having the cordless nailer on site worked well for me as it reduces the noise of the generator and the compressor and creates less of a hazard as far as not having to trip over any hoses. This nailer has several labels and markings that says that it is for clipped nails but it accepts Round Head Nails as well so I am not sure why it is marketed as Clipped Head Nails only. I feel that will scare people away. If you are already invested in the Ridgid line I would definitely recommend it, due to the weight you may want to use the smaller batteries and have a few extra on hand. I was able to sink nails with no problems, although the direction is not marked on the depth adjuster, if you adjust it to the left you will sink the nails deeper and if you want them proud or not as deep adjust it to the right. This does not have a dedicated power button, so to operate insert the battery and press the lower button under the trigger, a green light will come on. I noticed that after approx 10 seconds of inactivity the light will go off just press this button again to wake it up. Personally I would prefer an actual on/off button. The single fire and bump fire mode works well. You have to press the nozzle all the way in and press the trigger to fire , just like any other nozzle. Overall this is a good nailer, it is a little on the heavy side and I would like to see the weight reduced for a Gen 2 model

Nice gun
This completes my battery operated nail gun collection. It is a nice gun. It weighs in at about 10 pounds without the battery. That's about average for a framing nailer. It can take 2 inch to 3 1/2 inch nails. It comes with a rafter hook and a belt hook. Apparently it has a small air tank inside which you are supposed to fill up sometimes. The directions are kind of vague on this. It is supposed to shoot up to 700 nails per battery charge. Which is pretty good. Back to the air tank inside the whole point of a battery nailer is to lose the compressor. I'm not a framer but I occasionally have some wood repair on my paint jobs. I guess I'll se how long it lasts. Other than that I like it very much.

RIDGID 18V Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 30-Degree 3-1/2 in. Framing Nailer (Tool Only)
This is a very fine tool with a lot of power. With winter coming I am curious to see how it acts in cold weather especially nailing into frozen LVL and LSL beams. With air framing nailguns and my Paslode gas gun the nails don’t set deep enough in these beams and need to be followed with a hammer to drive them in. Otherwise in warm weather and nailing in framing lumber this gun does great and with the adjustment nails can be set perfectly. Of course, the benefits are obvious; no compressor or hoses needed and, in fact, with fully charged and extra batteries, no on-site power is required. Also, unlike gas powered nailguns, the RIDGID cordless doesn’t need to be disassembled, cleaned and lubed once or twice a year. Two negatives are the weight of the gun and the limited number of nails held in the magazine. At nearly 11 pounds with battery and nails it is more than twice that of an air powered nailgun and about 50% more than a gas gun. Eleven pounds doesn’t seem like much, but hold it over your head nailing bracing, blocking or wall sheathing. Constant reloading is an inconvenience. Building walls, installing bracing, nailing down floor, wall and roof sheathing uses a lot of nails and having to stop and reload is annoying. Gas guns have the same issue.

Surprisingly low noise, quick and easy to use, no hoses to trip over!
The RIDGID R09895B 30 degree cordless hoseless framing nailer indicates it takes Clipped Head nails but RIDGID support confirmed it can take Full Head nails as well. That's important as Clipped Head nails don't meet building code in some places. I had no problem loading or using Full Head nails making a small project to hold electric net fence for winter storage. I didn't need the included rafter hook for this little project but did like how easy it is to drop in a strip of nails and slide the pusher back to catch them and feed the driving mechanism. The minimum battery is 3 Ah but I had a 4 Ah MaxOutput that snapped in perfectly. There is a nearly invisible activation button under the ring finger of the hand grip so is instinctive to use and the trigger takes only mild pressure to nail. The tool, battery, and nails are about 10 pounds so it is a fair bit to be hanging off the end of your arm but for this project I found it very manageable. Long term use might get kind of tiring but at least you won't be dragging air hose around with you! I didn't trip over air hose once doing this first project. The tool does have a Contact mode where you hold the trigger and it nails as soon as you press the nose against the work. The Full Sequential mode better suited my use where you place the nose then squeeze the trigger to nail. I was surprised by how little noise the nailer makes compared to a pneumatic nailer and especially compared to fuel based hoseless nailers which are really loud.

Heavy But Works Great
The RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 30-Degree 3-1/2 in. Framing Nailer is a lithium battery powered tool that doesn't require any cords or hoses. This particular nailer was supplied as a "tool only" item so you will need a Ridgid 18V battery and some 30-degree, paper-colated framing nails. The instruction manual calls them "clipped-head" nails but I discovered that the correct term is "offset round-head" framing nails. 2" to 3 1/2" nails are acceptable. I used Paslode 30 -degree nails and they worked extremely well. I already own a couple of 21-degree pneumatic framing nailers and they work well but I had to have a compressor to use them and sometimes the air hose would get in my way. When I saw this Ridgid nailer I thought that I would try it. This is the first battery-powered nailing tool that I have ever used and I was very surprised at how well it works. Just put any Ridgid 18V battery on it, load the nails and pull the trigger. It was quieter than my air nailers but all of the 3" nails I used were seated to the correct depth. You can select "sequential" trigger-mode or "auto-bump fire" mode just by flipping a switch on the tool's body and it can drive 3 nails per second. It has a rafter hook and comes with a belt hook that you can attach. You better have a heavy-duty belt because this framing nailer weighs 10.5 pounds with a 2.0 Amp-hour battery and a stick of nails. That's heavier than most air nailers but as I was using it, I found that the weight wasn't a problem and it helped absorb the recoil while nailing. The manual says a 3.0 AH battery or higher is recommended but my tool worked well with the 2.0 AH battery. I chose this as a "tool only" version because I already have several other Ridgid 18V tools and batteries but you can also get a combo kit from HD. This tool is covered by Ridgid's "Lifetime Service Agreement" for parts and service if you have a problem. All-in-all, I was very impressed with this lithium-powered, cordless, framing nailer and am now considering trying Ridgid's other smaller sized nailers in the near future. This nailer is a little heavy but it works great. I highly recommend it.

It's Cordless !
My Review for RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 30-Degree 3-1/2 in. Framing Nailer (Tool Only). So let's start by saying I am a DIYer when it comes to woodworking. I have used air powered nailers a few times. I saw the opportunity to get this cordless nailer and figured I would give it a shot. It does not come with a battery so if you don't have you will need to buy. I haven't had the chance to start a project with it yet. But initial impressions are good. Like many tools out there cordless has come along way but there still seems to be a need for air powered. I believe this is the case with this nailer also. Convenience of this tool is definitely an upside for working remotely or doing a quick project. But the weight and power will definitely be inferior when comparing to air powered .

A little heavy, but balanced
A very powerful, easy to use framing nailer - this has the usual single and bump mode switch, depth of drive adjustment (easy to use), dry-fire lockout, built in rafter hook and detachable belt hook. This has a large no mar pad covering a toe-nailing claw that can be stored on board when not in use. This nailer does not have an illumination light. Fires 3 nails per second with no ramp up - no gas cartridge is required but it has an air chamber instead (must be refilled if performance decreases). A hex wrench is provided and stored on-board to access the air fill valve. Detailed instructions are provided in the Operator’s Manual. There is a grip switch in the middle of the hand grip - this needs to be activated prior to using the nailer – a green LED indicator lights up to show that the nailer is activated. This same indicator flashes red if there is a nail jam. Uses 30 degree clipped head collated nails with 0.113” to 0.131” shank diameters and 2” to 3-1/2” long This bare tool weights 9 lbs. 5 oz. it’s a little heavy but has a very balanced feel. The Operator’s Manual is very well written and illustrated. Plus this has Ridgid’s Lifetime Service Agreement – you can’t beat that.
