A: I make my own sheets just a little longer and fold over the excess and that prevents any slippage. With most sheets it's possible to get a fold. If not, add a piece of tape to one end to get the length you need to get a good "hold" on the sandpaper. (try not to have the tape exposed over the felt pad of the backer plate. Just came in from six (6) hours of sanding with mine. Whew!
A: I haven’t had this problem but the foam part ripped off a little on the first day I just try to make sure it’s even on both sides
A: Yes it can. I removed all the paint on an old desk a friend was going to throw away. Sanded it down to the bare wood. Loved it so much, I just stained the top and left the rest bare.
A: Jdee, thank you for your interest in the RYOBI 2 Amp Corded 1/4 Sheet Sander. Yes, with the correct sandpaper this should allow you to remove paint from some surfaces. It would depend on the surface the paint is on. A: You will need an adaptor in most cases. However, duct tape does a wonder for a one time deal.

A: It could be; I've never done it. It would need to convert from the dust collector tube to the shopvac hose. The dustbag doesn't really do a good job of collecting sawdust. I'd guess about 3/4 of the sawdust never goes to the bag. That isn't specific to THIS sander; I've never had a dustbag on a sander that did much good! You might do better with a blower or (if you're sanding small pieces) using a sanding table with downward suction.
