        Does The Job
When I got the Ryobi - RYOBI 40V 12 in. Cordless Electric Single-Stage Snow Shovel with 4.0 Ah Battery and Charger I was super excited to try it out. So, once it snowed, I put it together and charged up the battery. Assembly was easy, just a few bolts and screws to tighten. The initial charge took a few hours, but again, this was no big deal. Basically, this snow shovel does the job as expected. It can clear a few inches of snow pretty easily, for now. However, I really don't expect it to last more than a few seasons. The entire machine is made of plastic, even the rudders and scraper blade that comes in contact with the ground. As a result, if anyone plans on using this with regularity it will not last. However, Ryobi is not a premium brand, so you get what you pay for.

        Nice for Fluffy Snow
Very nice snow thrower for fluffy snow. Battery lasts a good 45 minutes or more depending on how thick your snow is. When the snow gets wet then the thrower doesn't throw it as far. It still works ok on wt snow just not as good as fluffy. The unit can be expanded with the Ryobi expanedable units. This allows you to make the unit into a string timmer or limb trimmer.

This works waay better than I expected it to
I have a pretty large driveway and a pretty large gas powered snowblower. The problem is on days where we just get 1 to 2 inches of snow, the large snowblower is useless. This powered shovel is absolutely perfect. I was really amazed at how well it worked and how much faster it made things. It's more like shoveling than using a snowblower. It throws the snow directly in front of the unit so you need to be careful with your path, but it's awesome. Battery life is great. after about an hour of use, I still had more than half a charge. I also ended up buying the string trimmer head for the summer lawn maintenance.

        Great Snow Remover
I had a medical issue and had to stop using my large stove thrower. Was looking for something smaller and lighter to help clear away the snow from the driveway. This machine worked great. At first I was skeptical that it would be able to remove the snow from the area. But it did a great job even with wet snow. I did removal with steps up to about 3 in which it handled without any difficulty. Is lightweight and easy to operate by simply dragging it and sliding it towards the snow for removal. Very little effort or energy. The battery lasted for about half of my driveway. Luckily I had another Ryobi battery charged and ready to go which was more than enough to complete the driveway. Very pleased with this machine.

        Works well, good battery length
Really pleased with this. Works in both heavy, and light snow, though, better in light, and more passes were needed in heavy snow. I don't know if it throws it 20 feet, but 15 in light snow for sure. Obviously, it does throw the snow straight ahead, so you basically are throwing it, and then going over it again, but it was much easier than shoveling, and is great for tight areas or walks. There are actually two handle grips, so you could use the "U" shape, or the loop. The battery is a little larger and heavier than standard Ryobi batteries, but the charger is fast, and compact. Assembly is very easy, and it makes it easy to move if you have to bring it to help a friend.

        Clears snow with little effort.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am officially a Ryobi guy. I have a 2 full size snow blowers and I find myself using this one the most. It handle snow up to 6 inches very easily. The only downfall is the handle. No matter what I do, the handle want to spin into an awkward position.

Love it. Easy assembly. Comfortable handle. Good run time and lots of power. Perfect for decks and sidewalks.
This is not the first electric shovel I have owned, but is my first cordless battery-powered shovel. Having used a battery-powered lawn mower, string trimmer, blower, power drill, etc. for a number of years, I no longer have the concerns I used to have over battery life or lack of power, as the battery-operated tools have proven themselves to have comparable power to that of corded tools, and can usually finish the job without needing a recharge, although its beneficial to have a second fully-charged battery on-hand prevents down-time between charges, especially if doing a job that requires the tool to exert itself, as operating under a heavy load will shorten battery life. I especially like not being tethered to a power cord and being able to make a path to the mailbox, clear the front walk and go wherever I need to go, without tripping over a cord or worrying about it getting caught up in the snow thrower. Out of the box, this power shovel comes mostly assembled, requiring attachment of the snow thrower attachment to the shaft and the handle to the shaft. Two handles are included, one is a U-shape and the other is a more of a round, closed loop handle. I installed the U-shape because it’s larger and provides more hand-hold options than the more-narrow closed loop handle. The handle is adjustable along the shaft, so you can tailor the fit to avoid back ache and fatigue caused by using the shovel for extended periods of time. The tool is fairly long at 65-inches, so me being 5ft-10-inches, I’m not having to hunch over during use, and with a twist of the wing-nut, I can adjust the handle to make the tool a better fit my 5ft-7-inch wife. The fully assembled tool weighs in at about 23 pounds with the 40V li-ion battery installed. You push the shovel and do not lift it during operation, so you don’t really feel the weight. The head of the shovel is 12-inch wide and is good for about 4-6 inches of light, fluffy snow, but is powerful enough to move heavier wet snow and slush. This shovel is ideal for small driveways, walkways, decks and patios, and also can serve as a back-up on those rare occasions when there is a foot of snow on the ground and my 2-stage snow blower doesn’t want to start. The battery has some weight, but the majority of the weight is in the shovel end, which does a nice job of throwing the snow and getting down to the pavement. The manufacturer claims the snow thrower attachment will throw snow 22-feet. I didn’t measure, but I would say it threw the snow at least 15-feet. My battery was DOA, and took about an hour to charge fully. Green indicator lights on the front of the battery show the amount of charge remaining. 4 solid lights signifies a full charge. Run time was about an hour on a full charge, which was enough to clear a 700 sq. ft. patio area and 200 sq. ft. deck that just received a foot of light, fluffy snow. I was initially concerned about using this shovel on my expensive Trex composite deck in the back yard for fear it would leave scratch marks on the deck surface, but a hard rubber or plastic bumper on the bottom of the shovel allows the shovel to glide over the deck surface without causing damage. The trigger assembly is made up of two triggers, the main trigger and a secondary trigger that serves as a safety. Both triggers need to be depressed to operate the shovel. The trigger is variable-speed so you can adjust the speed depending on the length of the trigger pull, which allows you to better control the placement of the snow and extend battery life because running on full throttle, as I tend to do, uses the most amount of power. Taking your finger off the triggers immediately shuts off the tool – good safety feature. The battery fits and can be used in other Ryobi electric tools I already own, which is a huge plus. The major benefit of this shovel over other brands is the attachment capability lets you swap out the shovel head and install other Ryobi attachment-capable tools (edger, pole saw, blower), which expands the use of this tools and saves space in the garage or shed as you don’t have to have a bunch of individual tools. The Operators Manual speaks to safety operation and assembly of this tool, and provides helpful and informative information, but I wish there were more illustrations to cut down on read time. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this Ryobi power shovel.

Nice and Great tool to have!!!
I purchased this tool to have since it gets into tight places. It did not disappoint me. With our recent snow including blowing and drifting, Snow was as deep as almost two feet. I found using this in the really deep snow, I had to make as many as 3 to 4 passes but it clearly had no problems with up to 6 inches of snow we received here in North Central Ohio. My only complaint is that the grip handle wanted to move slight as I used it.

            Cool product
So I have several Ryobi tools that use this same battery so I figured it would be a no brainer to purchase this for my back deck which is rather large and small walkways I have. I would like to preface this by saying I live in Buffalo New York so we get a lot of snow and this works great for a few inches, but not heavy snow. It would be perfect for small sidewalks, but you definitely can’t plow our driveway with it. It does shoot the snow pretty far and it is light and kinda fun to use. Overall I am happy with it.
