A: This belt sander worked perfectly on my daughter’s large deck…30’x20’ rectangular. Took two full days to sand the entire deck lumber, so purchase plenty of sand paper. Just watch out for nails/screws that will tear the sandpaper.

A: I wouldn’t use this sander for auto body work. I used the sander for sanding a wooden deck after it was stripped. Sander works fine in a straight line and not an orbital pattern.

A:Â I don't think it would, but I watch a lot of car shows and for me maybe a rotary sander. This would be for maybe initial grinding, but most professionals will use block sanding to create a perfect finish. If I were you, I would go to a local body shop and check with them.

Absolutely a junk sander
Used 4 belts approximately 6 hours worth of work and it started spitting fire out of the side. Didn’t have my Home Depot receipt no refund. Got another one because I had to finish the job. It’s a junk also. DO NOT PURCHASE!!

Worked good. Had to work with the tracking adjuster a lot not sure if it was because I was sanding a wall holding the sander horizontally but still enjoyed using it

Powerful and clean
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great sander! I felt confident using this tool. It holds a lot of power while still remaining clean and efficient. I sanded and stained my dining room table quickly and without much mess. I have a few other Ryobi products and love them!

Loved my old Blue on so much, after 7 years of heavy use I just bought a new one.
My selling point is that it is basically flat on top the way the handle is located. I am able to flip it upside down and sharpen my Axe, Hatchet, Garden Shears, ECT.

I have only used this sander once and it works just fine. I have to get used to moving it correctly to keep it from taking too much off and maybe leaving deep marks that have to be re-sanded.

Small, but mighty.
Decided to refinish the hardwoods in my bedroom before repainting they walls (600 sq ft, roughly). Loads of damage from the last decades and not proper care with prior owners. All walk-behind sanders were rented out at all stores near me so I took a chance and went for this one based off sale price and an even split of reviews pos/neg. This little thing has power! The dust bag sucks but I connected my shop vac to the back and that helped tremendously. It’s time consuming given the machine for use in a decent sized room, but it did the job well. I went with 36>60>80 grit sequence and it was perfect. Bought a 5-pack of each grit paper and used 3 of the 36 & 60, 2 of the 80 (mainly cause of my pickiness but 1 would’ve been enough). Photos are the before and afters - you can see the damage I was working with; so bad! I purchased this house knowing it was a fixer upper and my room had the floors of the house with the damage. Overall I would recommend this for smaller rooms and projects if you don’t mind the workout - it served its purpose really greatly much to my surprise. I’m happy with my purchase and now have added a new Ryobi tool to my growing collection. \m/

eats cords and belts
I wanted a belt sander that didn't cost an arm and leg. pretty much was going to recycle after the job. that said within the first 5 hours I ran over the cord and sucked it into the machine. not really the housing is to high in the rear and the cord on the back side is positioned so it is to easy to catch. I 'm pretty skilled with tools and I did this same thing 3 times even watching for it. last time let the smoke out. So I retired the machine after about 10 hours. I found a less expensive solution else where.
