Goodbye air compressor
I ordered the Ryobi One+ 16-gauge cordless air strike for some projects around the house. It is still a larger handheld tool, but it is minuscule in comparison to the air compressor/nail gun combo. One of my trim boards became loose so I used it to secure the board back in place. It worked like a charm! This takes up less space as well. It was easy to load and set up.

No more compressors, air hoses or CO2 cartridges!
This is a review of my new RYOBI ONE+ 18V 16-Gauge Cordless AirStrike Finish Nailer (Tool Only). IMPORTANT: The battery and charger are sold separately. I am in the middle of a remodel at my house. I am installing 900+ feet of crown and base molding. I did not want to go thru the pain of setting up the compressor and the hoses and dragging that through-out the house. With my Ryobi AirStrike I don't! No more air compressor or air hoses for me again! The AirStrike 16-gauge nailer will set around 1000 nails on a fully charged battery. The depth of the nail head is easily adjusted with the turn of a knob. Ryobi's 16-gauge nailer can sink up to 2-1/2 in. nails into hardwoods. You can also adjust the air pressure for the different lengths of nails that can be set with this Ryobi nailer. I am installing pine molding; the finish nailer had no problems sinking the 2" nails that I used! The nose is a narrow design that will let you get into the tightest of corners. Also, the nose has a non-mar tip installed and there is an extra tip onboard the nailer. This tool is backed by Ryobi with a 3-Year Warranty. I am very satisfied with my Ryobi AirStrike 16-gauge finish nailer and I am certain that you would be too!

Good DIY for the price, but not a professional tool
I picked up this 16-gauge finish nailer to go with my growing nailer options for when I need a straight nail at 16 gauge. I also have a 15-gauge angled from a different brand, an 18-gauge that connects to a compressor, and a 30-degree cordless framing nailer from a third brand. Of the 4 nailers I own, this was the most inexpensive cordless nailer (out of 3) at less than 1/2 the price. It is very easy to use and is lighter weight than the other nailers. Straight out of the box it worked great and had no issues shooting 2" test nails through 1-by (3/4") oak and into a pine 2x4. The depth is easy to change and you can change the pneumatic force with a lever on the back of the nail gun, but I didn't need to as it worked great right out of the box. On the less impressive side, this definitely feels less robust in the hand and has more plastic parts than any of my other nailers. The ramp-up time on this nailer is longer than my other two cordless and it does not have a rapid-fire option that compares to the other two. Typically when use a finish nailer rapid nail strikes are not needed, but it is a way to tell a tool that is not quite at the same level as the others. The slower ramp up time is also not a huge deal on a finish nailer, but is noticeable compared to my 15-gauge angled finish nailer. Overall this is a good nail gun and will work for most weekend warriors, DIY enthusiasts, or other non-professionals. At 1/2 the cost it is also a great buy despite its lesser features. If you are already in the Ryobi line of tools or if you are not a professional finish carpenter you should definitely consider this nailer.

Works great! Dial it in, and go.
This finish nailer works pretty well. I'm not an expert with nailers, so it took a bit of getting used to and dialing it in, but I think the idea is to set the depth of nail that you want using the adjust knob near the nail chamber, then set the air pressure using the slider on the back of the nailer. Once you get the depth you need, you're good to go. The other thing that I had to get used to is that you did have to hold the trigger until it fires. I first tried just a press of the trigger and got nothing. It takes about 1.5-2 seconds to fire the nail in. I love that this is cordless and doesn't need an air hose to trip over. It's not too cumbersome to carry around, but is probably a bit heavier and bulkier than a traditional air nailer. The tool also has an easy access to clear any jams that might occur (though on my test nails, I didn't have any issues).

Great addition to my tool set!
Just what I needed! I am in the process of remodeling my house to put on the market ,and really needed this Nailer to help with the trim work through out. Works with stick 16 gauge Brad nail sets, easy to load and nice and light weight compared to an air Nailer. Works with the standard 18 volt Ryobi batteries. Comfortable to hold. Will last for a long time.

Nails From 3/4" To 2 1/2"
Ryobi 18V Straight Finish Nailer. Tool only, but not an issue since I have several batteries / chargers already. Make sure you get the straight nails (16 gauge). Has a LED light to illuminate your work area. This model has the single nail option. Press the tip against your workpiece, then press the trigger. Move to the next spot, press the tip and then press the trigger. Also has a depth adjustment and an air pressure adjustment. The manual can be downloaded from the Home Depot site. The quick release nail jam is a nice feature. With the battery installed, the unit is fairly heavy. Works nice.

The RYOBI ONE+ 18V 16-Gauge Cordless AirStrike Finish Nailer (Tool Only) as described appeared to be an outstanding alternative to my compressor-based nailer (CBN) because it does not require a compressor, a hose, nor oil. Hence I was disappointed when the depth setting mechanism did not work as expected. This nailer, unlike others that I have seen, uses a two-step process for setting the depth. First, I wanted to set the nail depth on a trial piece. The battery was fully charged. After each firing, the depth kept being too deep. I continued adjusting until it was set at no depth and minimal power. I tried 10 nails but the depth was still greater than I wanted. Then I used the nail gun to nail pine cleats for shelving between studs in our storage room. The depth mechanism did not set the nail at all so I adjusted the settings to maximum depth and maximum power. It still only properly set 3 nails out of 12, and that was in pine. At that point I stopped. Having to set most of the nails by hand eliminated the advantages over my CBN. My 23 ga. pin nailer worked flawlessly to position the pine cleats before nailing. It had no difficulty penetrating the wood and setting the depth below the surface. I have performed the same operation previously with my CBN with no issues. In fact, I have fired 100s of nails with it and can’t recall having any problems with the depth setting. The RYOBI nailer is heavier and bulkier than my CBN nailer but that would have been OK if the depth mechanism worked as expected. It lacks a two-step trigger to reduce the chance of an accidental firing. The dry-lockout feature also did not seem to work as expected. During additional testing, when the nailer ran out of nails, there was no noticeable difference in its firing. I had to observe that no nails were coming out. Throughout most of its use, there was a delay in the firing of the nails. I liked the amount of illumination that the LED light provided - it is the best that I have seen on a cordless tool. The markings on the tool for setting the depth are excellent. The instructions show a belt clip on the unit but I did not find one. The nailer is made in Viet Nam and has a 3-year limited warranty.

Saves time and money!!
This Ryobi 16 gauge airstrike finish nailer is a must have if you work a lot with crown molding, baseboards, or chair rails. Previously I have installed baseboards by hand with finish nails and a hammer. Often times I damaged the baseboards trying to countersink the nail or by missing the nail and hitting the board. Not so with this airstrike nailer. Simply pull the trigger and the nail goes in easily. One shot. I love that the airstrike nailer does not need bulky hoses or a noisy air compressor. Everything needed to drive the nails is included in the device. The device is on the large side, but it is balanced with weight and easy to hold with one hand (see photo). It takes about a second for the nail to shoot out after pulling the trigger as you hear the nailer quickly build up a charge to fire. The firing charge is not very noisy, much quieter than pneumatic compressor tools. I like the smaller nose depressor on this P326 model which makes it easy to fire nails in tight areas. I tried out this nailer so far driving 1.25 inch finish names into a scrap pine 2 x 4. I had the air pressure dial (which is adjustable) set to the lowest pressure and the nail depth wheel (also adjustable) set to the shallowest depth, and the 1.25 inch nail easily went in the board countersinking slightly (see photo). The only issue I had with this nailer was trying to figure out how to load the nails, the instructions had no pictures and the wording was confusing. I ended up finding a Youtube video clip on how to load the nails, turns out it was pretty easy. Overall I highly recommend this Ryobi airstrike nailer as it will save you time, money, and prevents damage to baseboards.

Quality tool that works great!
The RYOBI ONE+ 18V 16-Gauge Cordless AirStrike Finish Nailer takes some “getting used to” if you are accustomed to using pneumatic nailers. The Ryobi Nailer is heavier and bulkier than the pneumatic counterparts; but it is more convenient than a pneumatic nailer because it does not require electrical power, an air compressor and an air hose. This is plus for me. The bulkiness of this tool limits its use in tight spaces, but this too is not a deal breaker for me. There is a slight delay from the moment you squeeze the trigger until the tool shoots the nail; this takes some getting used to. The RYOBI ONE+ 18V 16-Gauge Cordless AirStrike Finish Nailer can use nails from 3/4 inches to 2-1/2 inches long. The magazine holds 100 nails and the scale does a good job of giving you an estimate of the number of nails remaining in the tool. The air pressure adjustment and depth of drive adjustment give you lots of adjustment to compensate for the nail length and density/hardness of the wood. I really like the RYOBI ONE+ 18V 16-Gauge Cordless AirStrike Finish Nailer and will surely use it more than my pneumatic nailer because of its convenience and ease of use!
