Why did I wait so long to buy this saw????
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The jigsaw is amazing. So much easier to complete the projects around the house. I just reupholstered the chairs for a second hand table I purchased. With this saw I was able to cut new bases for the chairs that needed to be replaced in under a minute each. Inserting and removing the blade was extremely easy. This product is definitely a must have.

Well made Orbital Jig Saw
I have a set of Ryobi cordless 18v tools. But one that I have been waiting on is the jig saw. I'm lazy and don't like to hassle with extension cords to run power tools.
Ryobi makes tools that are well built from quality materials. You will notice right away that the jig saw is heavy. Not cumbersome but it feels solid and durable.
This jig saw is a tool only and does not come with a battery, but if you already have a battery you will not be disappointed. It is easy to use right out of the box. It comes with one wood blade which is easy to install. Simply twist the blade holder to a forward position and insert the blade while still holding in position. Then let go and your blade is ready to use.
The blade cuts well through plywood. There are 3 speeds on this saw and the orbital setting helps it cut more smooth with minimal splintering. It also has a place that you can add a guide for straighter cuts.
I do like that it has a safety that will keep it off, but it also locks in the on position so you do not have to hold a button down to keep it going.
The base is a non marking surface so it runs smoothly along any surface you are cutting. The base also adjusts up to 45 degrees for angle cuts. It cuts curves and corners with ease.
If you are looking for a quality cordless jig saw, look no further. This saw will last a long time.

Super Smooth
Wow. I am pleasantly surprised by this saw. It is a lot heavier duty than I thought it was going to be. It is quite beefy with the battery attached, and I mean that in a good way. I prefer my saws have a little more heft to minimize vibration and unplanned movements after getting through a cut. The grip is nice, the controls are easy, and the light is bright. Figuring out how to install the blade took a few minutes (and the instruction manual), but once I swallowed my pride and read how to do it it is very easy. You'll love the saw. You should get it.

Variable speed and comfortable cutting
This Ryobi Cordless Jig Saw has many great features and will come in handy when I am again replacing some 2x6 cedar deck boards in the spring. One good feature is the variable speed control which allows me to position the saw blade to easily start cutting on one of the edges of the board. It is best to cut the deck boards right next to a joist which then allows easy removal - frequently just by hand - without the use of a crowbar. The short pieces then become useable firewood. To switch blades, put the saw on its side on the table, swivel the lock tab and change blades. No additional tool is needed, and the blade locks in tight. The spring on that tab is quite strong and putting the saw on its side makes it much easier to accomplish the change. There is a handy light as well and this unit uses the now-very-popular Ryobi ONE+ battery, which is one of the easiest to change in this relatively new battery takeover of all tools.

So, the non-marring shoe can be removed as to not damage it for general everyday use, and quickly installed to protects those more delicate surfaces. I like the variable speed trigger and easy to set orbital settings for precise speed control for smooth clean cuts. The LED light is great, marking following your cut line all that more ease to see and follow. Let's not forget the base adjusts from 0° to 45° right or left.
