Q:This may be a dumb question, but... Can this be used with brushes for cleaning that have a hex attachment, specifically the brushes in this Ryobi set https://www.homedepot.com/p/RYOBI-Scrubber-Accessory-Kit-11-Piece-A95SPBK223/322618923 ? Thanks!

Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Misschivus1 - No, those brushes cannot be used in this die grinder. This die grinder's spindle lock is different from the hex shank of the brushes. We hope this helps! Q:I'm a total noob in terms of a die grinder, but what is the difference between this and a power drill or impact drill with same attachment? Couldn't I just use same attachments I would on this die grinder, on a power drill or impact drill?

      Answer This Question

A:  It's mostly the speed (~10x as fast as most drills,) but also grinders are meant for side loads as well as axial loads. Bearings in drills are only meant for axial loads and you'll damage them if you put much side loads on them.

A:  Hello, Noobie - Thank you for your interest in the ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 1/4 in. Right Angle Die Grinder. A die grinder is recommended for polishing metal, sanding metal (sanding down welds), cutting metal (cutting metal stock to size), shaping metal, sanding wood, removing rust. An impact driver is recommended to be used for driving long deck screws, driving carriage bolts into deck posts; driving Tapcon® screws into block walls and concrete; driving screws into metal studs. Lastly, a drill is for drilling in all types of wood products (lumber, plywood, paneling, composition board, and hard board), ceramics, plastics, fiberglass, laminates, and metals; driving screws into wood and drywall with screwdriver bits.  Additionally, if you need further support, then a RYOBI Customer Experience Professional is here for you, Monday - Friday from 9 am to 6 pm (EST) when you call or text us at 1.800.525.2579 or through email or live chat when you visit us at https://www.ryobitools.com/support/contact. A:  A Die Grinder spins at 22,000 RPM and a drill spins a lot slower, too slow to be effective for the jobs a die grinder does.

A:  I have the Ryobi right angle Die grinder. And I have a pneumatic straight die a grinder. The Ryobi works in every situation I have ever encountered just as well as the straight one. I like it better because I never run out of air pressure with the Ryobi. Sincerely John

Great grinder. Up to 4 RPM settings. Lightweight. The built in light is useful and cuts off automatically when not in use. Noise level is low. Rubber grip is comfortable.

                      Fast, Variable, Long-lasting
This Ryobi ONE+ 18volt Brushless Cordless Compact 1/4-inch drive Right Angle Grinder will make an arduous surfacing job quick and easy. This grinder comes with four speed settings and a direct-to-your-work-area LED that's activated when the trigger is squeezed. There is a lever safety which much be lifted to prevent accidental activation but is easy enough to not tire your hand when working on a larger task. When activated the high rpm are balanced between the smaller drive head and any attached Ryobi ONE+ battery pack.

                      Really great
I have to give it to ryobi… this angle grinder is awesome. It has a lot of power and it’s really comfortable in your hand. The light is extremely bright.. the quality,,of course is top notch. It has four different power/speed settings for just about all types of grinding. You can connect not only the standard wheel type but also the bit style. Iv been using ryobi tools since they came out and I’m impressed with all the new features & quality . But most of all, I like the fact that they make everything simple so that the beginner can use them will ease.

                      Beast of a die grinder
This is a beast and will handle the toughest jobs. It has 4 speeds (10k to 24k rpm) and plenty of power. I like that the collet has a 2 stage lock to get the bit out. Its an awesome tool!

                      Variable-Speed, Safety-Trigger, Long Lasting
This little handheld die grinder is the replacement tool you have been looking for to work on your automotive, metal, stripping material needs. This variable speed grinder with a 1/4 inch bit opening has enough power and speed to tear through build up and small enough to fit into tight spaces where pneumatic tools and hoses would be difficult to get through. Being one of the Ryobi ONE+ tools there are various battery sizes which can be used with this tool to make it more lightweight, longer lasting and even anytime ready. Love the smaller size (smaller than impact driver or drill tools) and the spring-loaded safety ensures that there is no accidental activation. The oversized leaf spring trigger makes it easy to keep activated as you move around the work area and doesn't tire your hand out from excessive tension to keep the trigger activated. While it rotates in only one direction this is still a tool that can be used inside, under and around areas that have previously been inaccessible, The bright LED light is positioned to still illuminate the work area when gripped and put no load on the battery. Well worth a try and a must have addition for high speed grinding jobs.

                      Balanced Cordless Die Grinder
Recently, I received an email, alerting me that a Home Depot "Seeds" campaign was open. I opened the email and went to the 'Dashboard" page and started to go through the latest list of items available. I selected one premium item and was told that I was allowed more items for "Seeds" selection. I went through page after page until I saw a Ryobi 18V Right Angle Die Grinder. I selected it because I already had the proper batteries, since I already have other Ryobi tools in my garage. When the tool arrived, it was a lot lighter than I expected and extremely comfortable in my hand. I had charged batteries available, so I plugged one in. I then put a generic mounted stone in the quill, tightened it up and engaged the finger safety switch, as expected, and pulled the trigger. It was exceptionally smooth, deliberate, and variable. I really liked the feel. The grinder was on setting number one, as indicated by the lighted switch position, positioned on the lower front of the tool. Each press of the adjacent button increased the speed of the tool. The number one setting was good for 10K, two was good for 15K, three was good for 20K and four was good for 22K. Also engaging the trigger, lit an LED attached work light, focused on the area immediately in front of the working tool. A nice arrangement and very practical for one that has worked on die grinding in industry. Most of the time, it meant using an industrial light that was too big and bright to do any good. This was perfect. The upper settings are primarily for better balanced mounted stones, rated appropriately. Pay attention to the warning label on the stone. Also Included in the package was a quill wrench to lock the stone in the spindle. Having used my share of industrial tools, this is a great tool, with all the functionality of the more expensive industrial variety with more features at less cost. Highly recommended by me.

Another Great Ryobi 18V One+ Tool
The brushless motor is smooth and not very loud. There are 4 speed settings depending on the die accessory you are using. Speed 1:0-10,000 RPM, Speed 2: 0-15,000 RPM, Speed 3: 0-20,000 RPM, Speed 4: 0-22,000 RPM. The tool accepts standard universal 1/4" shank dies and bits with a max diameter of 2". The collet nut is 11/16" in size and comes with a wrench, there is a lock button to hold the spindle shaft steady for bit removal and also indents in the shaft if not using the lock button. The paddle trigger has a smooth, linear operation and has an integrated safety switch which can be operated one handed. Pressing the switch also turns on a LED work light. The name of this tool can be confusing, this is a die grinder, not an angle grinder, it is just that the handle is an ergonomic pistol grip style at 90 degrees. The tool comes with a 3 year limited warranty. This works with the same Ryobi 18 volt one+ batteries as my other tools regardless of amp hour, battery composition or HP style.

                      Nice Die Grinder
This is a very nice tool that works very well. It is fairly light weight for a battery-operated tool about 1 lb 9 oz for just the tool and 2 lb 9 oz for tool and a 24 Wh Ryobi battery. It has 4 speed setting modes that you control via the push button on the base of the tool. You can also vary the speed with the trigger. The four settings are spaced about right for anything you would want to do and it is nice to be able to control the speed as you are working with the trigger. It has good power, about on par with my good quality air die grinder, the down side is that it is heavier and bigger so it won’t fit in as tight of a spot. It is very quiet, not near as loud as the air operated one is. The trigger could be a little smoother when trying to control the speed, not bad just not perfect. The collet works nice and has a good feature that with you go to change the accessory you loosen the nut a little until the nut is loose then go a little more and it will push the accessory out of the collet. A wrench is supplied with the tool, but it would be nice to have a place on the tool to store it. I also wish that it had an 1/8” collet. The handle feels good and the balance is nice. It has a work light in the base which does a pretty fair job of lighting up what you need it to, but might be better to have one mounted at the top close to the collet. All in all a really nice tool.

                      Another great ryobi tool
RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Compact 1/4 in. Right Angle Die Grinder (Tool Only). This is a great tool. I really like the four speed selectable speeds. The trigger has a lock so you can't accidently bump it. It has plenty of power for small jobs. I have used it with a deburring bit and a scotch brite type pad to clean gasket surfaces. Im really happy with this tool.
