Answer This Question

A:  Not recommend these for any kind of mansonary. Great for all other types of materials (wood, metal, plastic)

by|Jan 7, 2021

A:  No! These drill bits are for wood, steel, plastic and other soft materials. You need to use masonry drill bits for brick and concrete.

A:  No, for brick or masonry you have to use a masonry bit, which is a carbide tipped bit.

Q:What material is the drill bit made from, not the coating, the drill bit

A:  Hi BillyBob, Thanks for your question on the RYOBI Titanium Coated Drill Bit Set (21-Piece) A972102 are made out of steel. Thanks for asking! - Eve

    by|Oct 23, 2020

A:  All drill bits (Other than special bits made custom for a specific purpose in industry) are made of carbon steel, sometimes known as 'tool steel' or 'high speed steel'. The problem is than there is no set standard for quality in consumer bits, and the quality of the steel itself can vary wildly. A cheap drill bit might be dulled by one use in drilling a hard material, while a top quality bit might go on for dozens of uses before it needs re-sharpening. The coatings do help prolong the usefulness of the bit but a coating may be put on a very poor quality bit, so once the coating is worn off, the bit may become nearly useless..

A:  The base material of the boys is probably high speed tool steel. Although I do not know for sure. The Titanium coating acts as a lubricant and protects them from rust. It will wear away during use.

      by|Oct 23, 2020

A:  DON'T KNOW BUT THE DRILL BIT ONLY LASTED ONE TIME CUTTING INTO A 3/8 STEEL PLATE. DISAPPOINTED.

Q:Do these work with a dewalt drill? The heads seem circular. Do I need an adapter?

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes, I use them with a dewalt drill. You just need to tighten the Chuck on the drill to get the teeth to close on them. They will not work with the impact drill though

        by|Sep 12, 2020

A:  Yes, Typically, the Dewalt drills use a 3 jaw chuck and can close and hold these round shank drills without any slipping. So yes!

A:  Hi Vinay Thanks for your interest in RYOBI. This drill bit set will work with ¼” or ½” chucks. We hope this helps. Best Regards Thank you for contacting RYOBI.

A:  Yes, they work with Dewalt and you will not need an adapter.

          by|Sep 12, 2020

A:  these bit work in any drill that has a standard chuck. They are not brand specific. I have used mine in my Milwaukee Makita and Rigid drills. DAB

A:  Thank you Zanna for your inquiry on the A972102 bit set. The bits are designed to work with standard chuck designed on most drills. ~I hope this helps, Ashley

          by|Jul 21, 2020

A:  All standard drill bits require a drill bit chuck to hold them. All power drills come equipped with a chuck, no accessory required. If you are trying to use a driver to drill with, there are specialty bits for them, already having a 1/4" hex shank.

            by|Jun 24, 2020

A:  This drill bit set comes ready for use. The bits attached to the Ryobi tool without the need of any adapter or holder.

            by|Jun 24, 2020

A:  No, they fit right in the chuck.

            by|Jul 30, 2020

A:  any standard battery or electric powered drill. These are not for a driver ending. They are standard drill bits. Needs a collapsing chuck like on the Ryobi battery powered drills.

              Broke too easy
I’ve had these for about 1 year. Today I was drilling aluminum and snapped two bits. Very disappointing. Went back to my old steel ones.

                For the D.I.Y Homeowner
For a D.I.Y homeowner these will fair well to them. However, I am reluctant to recommend them to a professional who needs reliable and durable bits. For my needs though, these bits have proved good enough producing a clean hole that was easy. I've used these to drill holes into my studs, having no problems tackling those jobs. The coating on the bit has shown light signs of deteriorating after using them sparingly for 2 years. This is why I am reluctant to recommend them to a professional. However, as a D.I.Y homeowner to do projects here and there, these are a great cost saving alternative.

                  cheaply made
I’ve had this set for about a year and I’ve already broken about a half dozen of the drillbits. I wasn’t even doing anything that difficult...just drilling into wood. They look like they’re made out of pot metal.

                    thin titanium coating, expect breakage
I’ve had this set for about 5 years now and have broken three small bits and one large bit (5/16”) and find that the thin titatium coating wears off quickly. Whenever I need a replacement, I get Milwaukee’s titanium coated bits, which have proven to be much more durable for me, but they cost a lot more. For infrequent homeowner use, this set is good enough, but for anything more, I’d spend the extra cash for a Milwaukee set.

                      Useful for the shop
Reasonable value and cut well. I am pretty careful to not to over heat and use curtting oil when possible. I have not tried to re-sharpen yet. I might still get the Bosch equivalent and compare
