No Ductwork? No Problem. Ramsond Ductless (Duct-Free) Mini Split Air Conditioning Systems can be installed in virtually any location. Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioners are also referred to as Zone Systems. They cool/heat the zone or areas in which they are installed. When the zone is in use, the mini split system can be turned on. When the zone is not in use, you can simply turn it off. This zone capability allows for substantial energy savings. Ramsond Heat Pump systems not only provide cooling during the hot summer months, but also provide efficient heating for the winter. They are far more efficient and substantially more economical compared to conventional central air conditioning systems. Ductless Mini Split systems are comprised of two main components: 1) The outdoor unit (Condensing Unit), and 2) The indoor unit (Evaporator Unit). The installation is simple. The indoor unit hangs on a metal bracket (supplied) that attaches to the interior wall, much like a picture frame. A 3 in. hole is then drilled through the wall. The Line set and communication wires are passed through this hole and connect the indoor and outdoor unit together. The Main power is supplied to the outdoor unit. The indoor unit draws its power from the outdoor unit. The system is operated by a wireless remote control (supplied). Simply set the remote control to the desired temperature and the system maintains the desired temperature.
  • Capacity: 12,000 BTU (1 ton) cooling 12,000 BTU (1 ton) heating (heat pump)
  • Power requirements: 110-Volt/60Hz, single phase powered from the outdoor unit
  • Area coverage: up to 540 sq. ft.
  • Functions: cooling, independent dehumidification, and heating (heat pump)
  • Efficiency rating: high efficiency (SEER 16.0)
  • Refrigerant: pre-charged with environmentally-friendly DuPont R410A refrigerant
  • Complete system: includes indoor unit, outdoor unit, complete installation kit, 25 ft. of insulated copper line set, remote control
  • Quiet operation: low noise, includes sleep function
  • Easy installation: includes installation kit; quick install system: pre-wired indoor unit (25 ft. cable) with quick connection; pre-flared and flanged insulated copper line set kit; quick install system cuts installation time in half
  • Features: indoor unit digital display of temperature (degree Fahrenheit), functions and error messages; 3 fan speeds; auto-restart: in case of power outage, the system restarts automatically to previous settings; self-diagnostic system: in case of malfunction, the indoor unit display shows error message codes; 24 hour start/stop timer; multi-directional oscillating indoor unit louver
  • Multi-function digital wireless remote control with wall-mount cradle/holder
  • Corrosion resistant outdoor unit paint can withstand direct sunlight, rain, snow, and harsh environments

Questions & Answers

can i expand this one and add more Indore units connecting to same outdoor unit?

can i expand this one and add more Indore units connecting to same outdoor unit?
Asked by: Tigra
NO. I bought the unit, paid $700 for the installation and then I had to pay another $300 to take it out and then returned to HD. Do not buy the unit, it does not work. I ended calling a company and installed a unit with two extensions of a brand that is in the market for a long time and they gave me 5 years total warranty.

Can I plug this into a regular 110 outlet
Asked by: jeffjcakes
Yes, mine is currently working on a 15 amp circuit. The system has worked great since I put it in and my power bill has been cut substantially. The only thing I don't like is the confusing symbols on the remote but that's a minor problem. I will be buying two more over the next year. You will need to hire someone to help install it unless you have refrigeration tools including a vacuum pump and gauges.

How well does the heating work?

I live in GA, close to SC. I'm originally from PA, so the winters here seem mild to me. Will this unit work well in my location? I'm tempted to switch over to this unit solely (would have a few) for heating and cooling my house. Thanks.
Asked by: Scooter
I am purchasing a second one ,it is cheaper than running oil or propane heats my house real well. I live in an old new englander home . It only brought my electric bill up by 100.00 extra a month..Even on the days it was below zero..it kept up .Took care of the moisture in the air too..but my home was not too dry either.I installed it myself. That wasnt bad either.I did have to pay someone to add the coolant though.

Could u put compressor in garage? Would there be enough airflow? Would it be a fire hazard

Asked by: ScottH
I would say yes you can. It will make a freezer of your garage in the winter and an oven in the summer though. As for the Fire Hazard it would depend what you store in your garage beside moter vehicles. I would check with local Fire Department for that answeer. I would recommend putting it outside if possible.

12,000 BTU 1+ Ton Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner and Heat Pump - 110V/60Hz is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product support ever We purchased this system from HomeDepot last year and had it installed. The AC works fine but the heater will not work at all. I contacted HomeDeport to find out, (since the manual is so bad), if what I purchased included the heating option and they sent me to the Ramsond website because they didn't know. The website will not give you a phone number to call you have to submit an email request for a support call back which I have sent 4 times.. I have not received one call back. But, (aside from the definition of insanity), I keep trying to reach someone. I saw that after you submit a request a number to call shows up but when I called it I got a circular answering system and still no call back. When I looked for the number later to try again you don't get it unless you submit another call back email request, hence the 4 times.. I just bought a lakehouse that needs all new AC/Heating and it's all electric so I am going to put Mini Splits in the house but I will buy them from Lowes instead.. This process is too frustrating to deal with.. HomeDepot should support the products they resell or at least hold the vendor accountable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Far ... So good... Nice and Quiet... not easy to install but doable IF you have some A/C experience (...instructions are weak). This is a complete unit... most everything you need is included (except support brackets which can be bought separately). Unfortunately, when I got mine... the Fan Condenser was faulty... so, I called Home Depo support... they gave me the number to contact at the manufacturer... And Guess What? I ACTUALLY GOT A HUMAN WHEN I CALLED ... a REAL PERSON! !!!... A PERSON THAT SPOKE ENGLISH AND UNDERSTOOD ENGLISH. In fact, the number was a direct line to one person... no recording... no enter 1 to get this or 2 to get that sort of menu system.... it was not the typical non-sense you get from a manufacturer. In fact, he was in the warehouse that shipped the part! !!! I was dumb founded and shocked... In less than a few minutes, he had put the request in for the needed part... which happen to be out of stock. But... a few weeks later... the part arrived. I was highly impressed with this sort of "old school" customer support... so much so, I am at loss with words. Rest assured, I will be buying another one JUST because of this sort of customer support.

However, it has not been tested for the same space with occupants of 10 to 20 people.I am grateful for the 5 and 7 year warranties, and if needed, pray that they will meet our needs at that time.Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product and easy to install This freezes me out of my home. It's pretty quiet, on the low fan setting you can barely hear it. 2 problems that make it only 4 stars. 1. The instructions are terrible. I seems they were written for an older model. This model is easy to set up, but the instructions make it seem a lot harder. Also, the purging instructions are on the website, not the manual. (Make sure you open the valves ALL the way open.) 2. The unit came with a lot of extra piping but no tools or instructions on how to cut it down. Now I have 10 feet of extra pipe coiled up behind the compressor. But it works fine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Instructions STINK: But product works... Bought this for an outside office (Insulated Tuff Shed). I poured a slab waited a day and on Saturday at 10AM started the install. It was completely installed by 3PM and worked the first time I turned it on. The biggest issue was the instructions were not clear about opening the low/hi pressure ports to let the Freon flow. I read and viewed multiple sets of instructions for similar units and figured out what to do prior to turning it on. I also purchased a flare tool and cut the piping to length. The piping is the thinnest copper tubing I've ever worked with. Very quiet unit and it sure does keep the office cool. I hope the heat works as well. if I had to depend on Ramsond's manual it would not be working.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We are happy so far with this products performance The only problem with this product is the installation directions. The users manual is not model specific. It is a general split system manual for most models. Did not explain the Pre Charged feature that my model came with. It did not describe the wiring connections effectively. I am a professional contractor and I had to use every bit of my ingenuity to figure out how to install it. I am left with a low voltage wire with plug in connections that is not described in the directions. I have no idea what its for. But the system is working well in my 20'x 20' family room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Read the intructions. Then Re-read them. The description here seems a bit misleading. For instance the line about the corrosion resistant paint on the outdoor unit saying it can withstand direct sunlight, while the installation manual section detailing where to install the outdoor unit says "Do not install in direct sunlight" Also the description makes it seem like this is just a quick, install and all you need is a drill and a wrench. You have to evacuate the air from the system before you open up the coolant circuit. Not doing so is just asking to have premature failure. Fortunately small vacuum pumps can be had these days for well under $100, and the service valve is just a standard 1/4". For my install I poured a small slab that the outdoor unit is mounted on, and it is covered from direct sunlight. Corrosion resistant paint or not, keeping it out of the scorching Texas sun can only do good. So if you're living in a climate where this thing would be baked, figure out some sort of canopy for it. The instructions for mounting the outdoor unit are pretty flawed as well. I think this is due to whoever they had translate the information. One section talks about the distance you need on each side of the unit, and putting rubber bushings under the feet, while the section that actually concerns installing the outdoor unit only talks about it being mounted on a wall. That pretty much negates their instructions about how much distance is needed on each side for airflow. Either way, make a little base for it, or pour a slab if you're so inclined. Read the instructions and then apply a whole lot of common sense because half of what they wrote is contradictory. I've not had to deal with Ramsond directly, and hope to not have to based on what other people have written here. If I have to I'll amend my review and detail that portion of things.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product if only it didn't leak condensation into my home I installed this product in an efficiency apartment on my property to replace a window a/c and a ductless propane wall heater. Installation was easy... installed it myself in about 6 hours (I'm a retired contractor) and felt very comfortable that I had the perfect solution to my heat and air needs. It worked perfectly for about 2 months. Used both heat and air initially (installed in May of last year), then started using a/c only in June. About 2 months after the installation, I came home one day and noticed water had been dripping from the unit for quite some time. The floor and a nightstand below the unit were soaked from water dripping from the bottom of the unit! Checked the drain hose outside...no water coming out. I blew into the hose and felt resistance and water immediately began flowing again. Called tech support & got pretty much a run-around. The problem has persisted ever since. My solution has been to use a wet vac on the drain hose every time it starts dripping water inside the apt. which seems to correct the problem for a month or two. It only happens when I'm using the a/c since the condensation doesn't occur when in the heat mode, so I've resigned myself to the fact that I'll have to continue the wet vac solution every few weeks during the hot months. Seems like gunk accumulates in the drain pan and clogs the drain even though I religiously clean the filters every month. In other words, Ramsond needs to re-engineer the drain pan and either put a small pump to keep it cleaned out or make the pan and drain hole big enough to eliminate any debris that might accumulate there. Other than this ongoing maintenance problem, the unit seems to work very well... just be sure to install the indoor unit someplace where you can put a bucket underneath it while using it for a/c and invest in a wet vac to suck out the debris when it starts to leak.
