    Answer This Question

A:  This tool would be helpful during any large “scraping” job. It has a heavy feel which makes any big job easier. I think it would be helpful. You may or may not not need the help of a heat gun. This scraper really could handle almost any heavy duty job. The edge of the metal scraper has a hefty “sharp” edge that is 7 inches wide. I think I would find a 14 inch scraper a bit too cumbersome to handle. This size would be the biggest I would want to use.

A:  I've removed and installed carpet on several concrete patios. I don't think the 7" sidewalk scraper would be the tool for that job. I'd look for a specific carpet scraper. I don't know about the 14" as I haven't used it.

Q:Can this be used to get weeds that grow in between sidewalk and road.

    Answer This Question

A:  In general I'd say yes. The blade is sharp enough and the tool is heavy enough that you could drive this scraper into dirt and undercut the weeds' root system.

    by|Nov 21, 2018

A:  I would not use this scraper for cleaning weeds from sidewalk cracks. I have other tools that I use for that application.

    by|Jul 29, 2021

A:  This scrapper is made from forged steel and is very hard, so I would say yes, it will "scrape" cut weed. If you are thinking about using the scrapper to cut the weeds below the surface level by chopping, the tool will handle it but the concrete and asphalt would be chipped and broken.

    by|Dec 4, 2018

A:  Are you talking about "between the road and the curb?". If so, I think it would be difficult because of the unevenness of the road surface against the curb. You would probably dull the edge of the scraper quickly. My personal choice would be to use a herbicide to spray the weeds, wait a few days and use a weed whacker to remove the dead weeds.

      A:  Yes it is.

A:  The label on the handle says that it is made of foreign and domestic components (long wooden handle, metal scraper end and removable rubber edge cover) and is assembled in the USA. The scraper is provided by Ames which is located in Pennsylvania,

This ice scraper is strong and heavy. Perfect for our New England weather. We have a brick walkway and the snowblower and shovel just can't get all of the snow and ice out of the cracks and uneven surfaces. this scraper makes easy work of loosening the ice and allow for it to be swept away or melt on warmer days. I also have granite steps in front of the house and water drips from the roof-line making a dangerous exit & entrance to the house. I was able to chip it away easier than ever wit this scraper. The handle is a nice thick wood handle and the blade is a heavy gauge forged metal. So far it hasn't bent, chipped or dinged in any way. I have only used it 3 times but it worked well.

The quality of the tool seems to be built well. The handle is sturdy and attaches well to the sharp end. Unfortunately, the sharp end was not very sharp. it is light making it easy to throw around but not heavy enough to have any weight to help drive the sharp end through roots. This will handle small roots. Large roots is barely makes a dent in unless you plan on being there for a long time to chip away at the roots.

Great tool. Nicknamed "The devastator". Great for clearing the driveway after its been driven on and turned to ice. It's an industrial strength tool. Got some beef to it and hacks, chips, and scrapes ice nicely. Get it!

          Good ice chipper
Bought a chipper in store and it lasted about 8 hits before it broke. The handle started to split where the the blade attached. So I bought this instead and so far it's holding up much better. I've only used this about 15 minutes so far, but it's doing a good job. The blade is good and heavy so the weight alone does much of the work.
