Q:Is there a way to drain the water heater, in case of sub zero degree temps?

      Answer This Question

A:  Hello Lisa, In order to drain the MiniTank models, disconnect power and open a hot water faucet to let hot water run out. Allow water to flow until water is no longer hot then shutoff and disconnect the water supply. Once done, the unit can be dismounted (if on wall) and tilted to expel any remaining water. Isaiah

Q:Can unit br plumbed to support both sink faucet and dishwasher hot water?
        by|Apr 19, 2024

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Rondel, The MiniTank models are geared towards single point low flow-rate applications. Use with a dishwasher may not be appropriate due to the high average water use of said appliance. If you require further assistance with your inquiry, please reach out to our Technical Support team at (800) 374-8806, 8 A.M. and 5 P.M. EST, and one of our agents would be happy to assist. Isaiah

Leaked after 15 days, flooded our kitchen
I purchased it replacing a similar Bosch product that started to leak. I researched as best I could and chose the Rheem brand. Big mistake as it failed internally within 15 days and flooded the kitchen. I did the install myself as it is very straightforward. I monitored it daily to be sure there were no leaks at the connections and there were not. I attempted to register the product on the Rheem website but the model number is not available. I emailed them, no response. I called, no response. Poor customer service for a failed product

            Should have picked up sooner
I have this on the hot water inlet line, which seems to be the only way to truly configure it. I installed below the kitchen sink where I have to wait forever for the water to get warm. Although this is a little 1.5 gallon unit it does plenty to avoid the initial cold water in the lines. Once its tank runs out the hot water from the house reaches the sink and its only noticeable in that I have this unit turned up a bit hotter than the regular water. It also reheats very quickly once your done.

It’s great to hear that the MiniTank 120-Volt 1.5 Gal. Compact Point of Use Electric Water Heater from The Home Depot is working well for you. Your detailed feedback about how it helps avoid the initial cold water in the lines and reheats quickly is very helpful. It sounds like this water heater is a good solution for your needs, especially for use in the kitchen where you previously had to wait for the water to get warm.

We have been saving water in gallon jugs to water plants for years waiting on hot water at the kitchen sink. This provides instant hot water in a small footprint heater which takes up very little space in the sink cabinet.

The water tank works perfect. My wife uses it for her dog grooming business and always has enough hot water (more like lukewarm) to bathe her dogs. We have it on a timer plug for the work hours and it’s HOTTTT.

              Perfect size great price
We have a wet bar approximately 75" from the hot water tank. It took almost 2 minutes and 3 gallons of water to run through the pipes, before we for any hot water. I researched and found this item, read the reviews and purchased it. The only real issue was because this unit draws 12 amps, I needed to run a 20 amp home run to feed this tank. It's all done, hot water in 3 seconds, so far it's doing the job.

                No more "Cold Water Sandwich"
A great solution for tankless water heater not close to the kitchen sink. Sufficient immediate hot water to start washing/rinsing dishes. For kitchen sink cabinet with flexible water lines, compression fittings, extra (non-switched) electrical outlet (15+ amp), garbage disposal w/dishwasher connection - simple to install with minimal parts and effort.

                Great Product
Kitchen faucet was too far from hot water heater and took too long to get hot water. I Just installed it and so far so good. Installation went easier that I was expecting after buying a 1/2'' female to 3/8'' male pipe fitting and drain tube.

                  Bad thermostat, terrible customer support
I'll start this by saying that I'm a Master Plumber. With that said, I'm terribly disappointed in the quality of this heater. The thermostat went bad within the first month of use. The element was stuck on so the water heated to over 170 degrees. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I've now been on the phone numerous times for several hours at this point, trying to get Rheem/Eemax (Eemax makes this unit for Rheem) to send me the correct parts. Very disappointed. Will not recommend this or Rheem.
