Q:Im a homebuilder and would like this on site so that both the builder and buyer are able to access the site at any time. Once the home is completed, are we able to transfer the service and cameras to the new homeowner OR move service/cams to new location

Answer This Question

A:  Hi LSBJEN. Yes. With the Shared Users feature, you can grant other users access to the Ring devices without giving them direct control. For more information on Shared Users, refer to this article: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005235186-Controlling-Ring-Devices-With-Users-and-Roles. After the build is done, you can remove all of the Ring devices from the Ring account they were originally set up under, which will allow them to be set up at a new location under a new Ring account. We have some additional information on device ownership and how to remove devices here: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038010351-I-Would-Like-to-Take-Over-Change-Ownership-of-Ring-Devices. Q:I recently purchased the ring jobsite security kit. If I were to purchase additional cameras, can I move those to other job sites and be able to view multiple sites through the same hub? Thank you!

A:  Hello amber,  Great question! You are able to add as many Ring security camera devices to your Ring account as you'd like and view them all within the Ring app. A Ring Alarm Pro Base Station would be required at the other job site locations if there is not currently a source of wifi internet. Each Ring camera and doorbell requires a solid wifi connection in order to send motion notifications to your mobile device through the Ring app. Here is a helpful article regarding our Backup Internet feature: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/4402107812884.  We invite you to reach out to our Community if any additional information is needed regarding your question. Love it! What’s wrong with you guys?
I was skeptical of buying this because of the reviews but my jobsight was broken into so I decided to just buy it. No regrets. This thing is great! It’s ten bucks a month if you don’t already have a ring protect account which is well worth it and it wasn’t hard to set up at all. And people about the battery’s is just their own stupidity because I found them in about 3 seconds in a google search and ring specifically states multiple times the battery’s are only for emergency backup. Don’t be dumb

            Ring Ranks At the Top
Received this Ring system and love the concept and how it helps contractors avoid liability, theft and any implications of wrongdoing. To me, it also signals the trades 'getting with the times' and offering widely used tech for our purposes. Overall, well done. A couple notes: As with any smart system, this can be a touch jittery and frustrating. Carve out plenty of time to get used to the tech and features and set it up at home or office before brining it to a site. I have experience with several other wireless security/automation brands (not to be mentioned,) that boarder on infuriating. Ring is by far the most simple but you still need to be patient. The items itself is just very cool. The box acts as a Hub for storage, charging and keeping things secure when you leave the site. The mounting brackets to keep the box itself secure is interesting and takes some getting used to. Again, play with the system before taking it to the site. The app helps you cut through all the manuals and leaflets that come in the packaging and get you up and running pretty quickly. I can't wait for when I get into my season and really start using this!

            Portable Ring Security
So you have a site with some stuff you need to keep an eye on? Maybe it’s a construction site. Maybe it’s your vacation spot, campsite, RV. This might be what you're looking for…maybe, if you’re realistic about what it’s going to do and what you're going to pay for on a subscription. First, it’s basically a portable version of Ring alarm, with a battery based camera, a motion detector, and a battery operated motion detector/spot light combo. Along with these there’s a weather proof lockable case for the alarm controller and battery back ups. The functionality is good, typical of standard Ring cameras. The system works on cellular so there’s no need for internet so long as you have cellular coverage. The system is designed for AC power primarily. The batteries will run the system if power is lost, but they will not run the system indefinitely. The system was easy to setup and works well. You’ll likely need more than the single camera and additional backup batteries. The alarm pro base has an added bonus of being an internet access point on the job site too. There’s a $20 monthly subscription to use the system in the long run. Overall it’s a good solution for job site security, not perfect, but it’s accessible and compared to alternatives affordable, especially when you’re concerned with vandalism and theft from a job site. Remember, you’ll need power available to use it effectively.

            Too many different batteries!
I wasn't sure about this, but liked the idea of a portable, cell-connected job site security camera. I was shocked when I unpacked all the parts and first found 10 separate manuals and "important product information" books. It really feels that assembled individual products into a kit and didn't give the integration much thought. The second big surprise for me was that you need 3 or 4 different types of batteries. The security case uses "power packs" that are optional accessories. The camera has a rechargeable battery (included), the motion sensor uses 3 AAA batteries (not included) and the light uses 4 D batteries (not included). You can recharge the camera battery in the security case when needed. You are on your own to have a supply of AAA and D batteries ready to go. To get the full benefit of the kit, you have to sign up for the Ring Protect Pro subscription, which (as of now) is $20/mo or $200/year. That price includes 3GB of data per month. Extra data can be bought. The security box is rated for IP54 which is limited protection against dust and water - almost certainly needs to be under a roof and not left out in the weather. The plastic security box includes very posh stainless steel plates to allow you to bolt it down for theft deference and they include a padlock to lock the case closed. As you can see, the case is almost entirely plastic (with a few tiny metal reinforcements) meaning it could be broken into without almost any sort of hand tool ... on a job site ... presumably a site with tools that cut ...

Excellent security package with only a few flaws.
Let me start by saying that this kit should be called the “mobile security” kit instead of the jobsite security kit; it honestly can be used anywhere you have decent cell service connection. Outside of the jobsite, this could be used in community gardens, vacant lots, mobile homes, RVs, anywhere - so don’t let the suggested use hold you back! If you plan to use the professional monitoring, just note that you will have to provide a physical address for where the unit is located as that is where the appropriate help will be dispatched to. The carrying case is only for the base station and battery packs (2 back up batteries and 2 camera batteries). There is no space to transport the flood light, camera, and motion detector inside. Essentially, don't think of the case as a carrying case but rather the "main unit". Would have loved to have seen some USB ports and an additional outlet inside of the case to be able to charge multiple devices. I noticed that the battery from the camera will power the carrying case fan when plugged into the carrying case, but not the main base station. The fan does not seem to run constantly when on the camera battery; it seems to be more so as a backup to prevent the inside from overheating. Hopefully this will not end up draining the camera battery when transporting the case with the camera battery still attached. The only device that runs off of a rechargeable battery in this kit is the Ring Camera which is charged via a micro-USB port on the battery itself or by taking the battery out and placing it in the carrying case. If charging the camera via micro-USB, you will need to take the battery out of the camera as the charging port is on the backside of the battery. The back of the camera does have a port of sorts, which after a bit of research looks like it can be upgraded with a solar panel or an AC adapter. Overall, the camera provides good picture quality, and the live view is a great feature to see what's going on. However, one big issue I noticed with the recordings that the camera provides is that there is a solid 1-3 second delay before the camera fully activates and starts recording. When testing out the camera, the person triggering the motion was already in the room close to the opposite side of where the recoding should have first detected the individual. One of the strongest features of this system is the ability for the camera to operate wirelessly. You can honestly place it anywhere as long as it has access to a Wi-Fi connection. I was able to go roughly 40ft away from the main station before having the signal cut out. The other two included devices, the motion detector, and the flood light, both require standard batteries. Three AAA and four D cell batteries respectively. Integrating all the devices is super simple - all you must do is load up your Ring app and scan the QR codes located on each device. After scanning the code, the app will automatically link all of your devices to the account. I’m not sure if I like the bright orange, or if it’s going to be an issue as it makes all the devices extremely noticeable. The orange is either going to deter someone by letting them notice that there are surveillance items around, or it’s going to tell them very obviously where all the surveillance devices are. Speaking of security, unless you are locking the main base station inside of a secured area, the only thing really holding the storage box in place is a metal bracket that can be mounted on the back or underside of the case. The issue comes with the fact that the base station case is only secured to these mounting brackets by a couple of screws. If someone can figure out where the bright orange camera and motion detector are, they can easily just make off with the carrying case rendering the whole system inert. I’d recommend at least having a camera aimed at the base station. As the saying goes, you are only as strong as your weakest link. So, make sure when securing the base station, it is done properly. The neat thing about the Ring alarm pro base station, which is the one included with this kit, is that it acts as a standalone Wi-Fi router. This is what gives it the ability to provide Wi-Fi to all your Ring devices remotely. Purchasing the pro subscription plan ($20/mo or $200/year) will provide a data connection to the router allowing it to work essentially anywhere if it can receive signal. If you have Wi-Fi at your location, Hotspot Wi-Fi through your phone, or a dedicated Hotspot, you could also use these to provide data to your alarm setup and go with one of the cheaper plans.

This kit is unique in that it is designed to be moveable from place to place and not needing hard wiring but can be added on to in that future ! With 5 acres I can't wait to get these eyeballs in the sky to be installed on my out buildings and home !! I look for a long fun life for this Ring Kit !

            Good portable security
I got the Ring Jobsite Security 5-Piece Starter Kit to monitor vacant apartments that I work on. The kit came complete with enough for monitoring equipment for my needs and is expandable should the need arise. The system needs WIFI to work. Alarms are sent via WIFI to the APP on my phone and live video can be viewed the same way, on the phone. Ring offers a service that will save video for later review. This is optional and costs extra, monthly fee. The system does have the capability to provide it's own WIFI using a cell phone connection, which would be an additional fee for the cell line. I did not use this feature so not sure how well that works. I found the system a bit of a challenge to set up. The instructions were not very clear. I liked that the powered case comes with mounting hardware so it can be securely mounted. My concern with that is that the box is bright orange and itself would be a target for someone breaking into the work location. When properly secured it would not be easy to steal but a determined thief would be able to take it. I try to find a hidden spot to place the case so it is not in the open. I give this 3 stars for providing a compact solution to job site security. There is room for improvement in set-up and minimum service without extra service fees.

            Excellent system
The ring jobsite security system is a great system for the contractor looking to keep his jobsite more secure and keep a eye on things to make sure nothing happens. This system is a great place to start. This set includes everything that is needed to get you up and running and gas room for you to expand with plenty of room for more camera and motion sensors and lights. This system is designed so that it is able to run off of both wifi or cellular connections and batteries, so if you jobsite is off grid this system will still work with no problems.

            The perfect security system!
You simply need this! Period. This is the security system to have not only for a jobsite, but most importantly to have installed in a service van or a vehicle. Up to this moment, Ring were no more than a doorbell company for me, but this security system opened my eyes that that they switched to a completely different ball game. This is no product that is made for a niche business, operation or activity. It is a very versatile system that you can use overnight in your service van parked on the street, go to a job site, use the system while on the job, leave for lunch, position the camera and motion detectors around your site and enjoy a worry free break. With the professional monitoring service you can relax and rely that you will find your job site in the morning always the way you left it the day before. This is really something that the contractor labor market needed for decades and only because Ring came up with this outstanding battery, the secure power pack box with internal fan and 2 battery charger and the low-power consumption wireless 1080p camera, you can get this at a practically a tenth of the price that'd your normally pay to recover your tools, own or third party equipment or materials. I see this as quickly becoming a mandatory necessity for insurance coverage, and a must have equipment in liability management. Ring is not the first system to offer this type of equipment, but the first one offer it at a price that is affordable and not prohibitive in order to be functional advantage to the jobsite. This kit can be installed on a job site for management supervision and oversight, and is easily upgradeable with limitless number of additional cameras, sensors, power packs, flood lights, or even array of additional base stations, organized by various locations, sites, floors etc. Connectivity is phenomenal at 2.5 and 5G wireless, or 5G/LTE cellular subscription service that is totally worth it by Ring. I expect prices will not stay the same for long, because this is the cheapest and yet the most upgradeable option on the market for security products today. Just like other security systems, this Ring jobsite security starter kit is not completely tamper resistant, there are some ways to disable the system and interfere with its operations, but none are easy, all require very specialized knowledge and expensive equipment. I believe this is a fantastic solution to address most, if not all, security risk considerations at a job site and/or a service vehicle. It is a very upgradeable product that can be used with so many other Ring products. Ring always designs their products with backward compatibility so this version of the base station pro will be good for at least a couple of decades from now. I am both amazed and perplex that Ring are able to offer it at that price and I bet this will not stay for long. As it is, it is not only a great and functional product, but a absolute must have for any contractor, job site or service vehicle. The service on it is phenomenal and totally worth every penny, offering storage, discounts on future products, troubleshooting, excellent warranty and step by step guidance and time proven product and customer support for several decades now. The service itself is very complex, layered and customizable, and can be tailored to your specific needs and operations with the help of job pro customer service specialists 24/7.
