Q:I can’t adjust the temperature. How do I do it?

Answer This Question

A:  Hi Matt, the information can be found in the owners manual under parameter settings. You will need to adjust the 01 parameter setting from A to B. This will allow you to raise the temperature up to 140.

Q:Can I use my existing 3" vent from my old 40 gal. tank type. I want to put in the tankless gas RN140iN. Vent runs straight up through ceiling and attic, or should I make a 10' horizontal run to side of garage with 5" pvc?

    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Vent, for this unit you would not be able to use your existing vent. The exhaust on our Non Condensing units burn to hot for PVC and also require concentric venting which allow the unit to emit exhaust and pull in fresh air from a single vent piece.

Q:can this unit be mounted in an exterior room with vented metal door? elevation 1800 ft does get in the upper 20*f rarely in the peak winter time

      Answer This Question

A:  Hi pipesize, as long as your installer properly insulates all piping. Heat tape can be used on pipes to keep unit from freezing

        Answer This Question

A:  Hi Shayne, while every installation varies, it will come with most of the basic necessities for your installation. Venting is not included, nor is a expansion tank, which can be required on some installations.

Homeowner install Rinnai 140,000 btu Nat. Gas.
I just purchased and installed this Non-Condensing unit in April 2024. I replaced a 20 yr. old Bosch Aqua Star unit. I had to make minor changes to the gas line, both hot and cold water lines and electrical. The venting had to be ordered separate. A better explanation is needed showing the venting difference between a condensing and non-condensing unit. I could have saved money on the venting costs if I had ordered a condensing unit as I had a drain handy. Works perfect right out of the box.

Worked perfect right out of the box with no adjustments needed. Wish I had read more on the difference between the condensing and non-condensing venting requirements. Had it for two days. Thus far it works perfect. Delivery to the Home Depot store was 48 hrs. after I ordered it. Perfect condition.

Disappointed because I shopped around for the best price and bought this one. Only upon receiving it did I see in the installation Manuel the need for other parts that required spending several hundred dollars more. If I knew this it might have made my purchase different.

We are sorry to see you are disappointed. While we do have a competitive price point, the unit is not a one size fits all for our customers. At times it can require more up front to switch from a tank to any brand tankless. However, the savings will come many years down the road when it is time to replace your unit and you require little if anything outside of the new unit. RinnaiAmerica

I have to say being my first time ever installing any water heater, more or less the tankless, it was not at all difficult. The hardest part was cutting the concentric vent. It’s working great and I absolutely love it. I did have to up the temperature to 140 from the default of 120.

The water heater came with NONE of the things to make it work. All the parts needed to make it work were over $100 each. Also, the water heater came broken! I will never buy this again and never advise anyone to buy it either! Terrible product!

Response from Rinnai Product ExpertFeb 21, 2024
I am so sorry to see this review. It sounds like the unit may have been damaged in shipment and normally you are able to return to Home Depot for refund or exchange. We do provide the basics, but everyone's set up is different. Some customers may have to purchase more or even upsize their gas lines. While it is a larger expense up front our product, with proper maintenance last on average 10-20 years and decreases dramatically in price when you replace it many years later. RinnaiAmerica
