Q:Does the cap easily remove for cleaning?

Answer This Question

A:  The top vent cap can be removed for cleaning or inspection. We suggest using a hammer's claw to help unsnap it from the base.

Q:I just found this and have not tried yet. first thing I noticed is it looks like it is designed to channel water right over the nails on bottom of flange

A:  All roof accessories have exposed nails that need to be caulked. Apply a roof sealant/caulking, and you will not have any issues.

A:  It works great. Just install it right, it can leak like any other vent if not installed properly. Nail it and apply some waterproofing to the nail and over the head.

Q:Why is this product listed as suitable for 3" ducting when it's not? The O.D. on the male adapter is 3-3/4"... which will not fit the 3" bathroom vent ducting.

        Answer This Question

A:  Practically every roof vent instructions / assembly and listing reads “compatible with 3" or 4" ductwork.”  This is standard one-o-one. Some vents include a 3" to 4" adapter for convenience, but most do not. An adapter typically costs $3.18 + tax. I didn’t need an adapter because my bathroom exhaust vent was 4”. I used 4” insulated flexible ducting and not that white dryer ducting which does nothing for most warm air hitting a cold attic.

A:  I have installed 3 of these in the past 2 years in upstate New York near the Canadian Border.  The winters are brutal, with blowing snow, ice, sleet and rain.  I've never had a problem or call back using this roof vent and I am very happy with the performance and ease of installation of this product.

                      Excellent vent
Was easy to install. Works well. No noticeable draft or noise from the internal flap. I used it for a bathroom exhaust. I used 4 nails under the shingles in the back and middle of the base to secure the vent but the front edge curled up. One thing that would be nice is if it came with an extension to lift the top further off the roof. In a large snowfall I worry the vent will be buried. Overall, I would recommend the vent.

This roof vent design far exceeds those standard square metal ones used everywhere. The round design of the vertical shaft eliminates water and potential ice damming that the square ones will encourage. The extra wide base also helps to shed water that may get under the shingles. A claw hammer works well if you need to remove the top cap after installing. I wish brown color was carried also. There are YouTube videos on this cap from the manufacturer that worth watching. I am using this for my 2 new bathroom vents.

The roof vent was very easy to install. Hole does not need to be perfect since flashing piece fits over and pipe cones through the bottom. Already recommended this product to two friends in the home remodeling trades.
