Questions & Answers

Is this useable for a resturant kitchen ?

Asked by: Kphil
If there is going to be a lot walking and also wet floor at times it may not be a good idea to use this product. I painted my garage floor about a year ago and it looked great but after about 15-18 months the most traffic areas need to be repainted. By the way, we normally do not park the cars their just the lawn mower on one side. If you decide to go with this product i recommend you get some of those hard rubbers mats. Good luck with your project.

Can you use over mastic?
Asked by: Ks
Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Concrete Floor Paint is recommended for use over bare concrete or masonry surfaces or over previously coated floors that are in good, sound condition. For the best results, we recommend removing the mastic to ensure proper adhesion. Rust-Oleum Krud Kutter Adhesive Remover is great for removing most glues and adhesives, carpet seam sealer, and mastic! http://www.homedepot.com/s/krud%2520kutter%2520adhesive%2520remover?NCNI-5

What preparation is needed for the application?
Asked by: Popeyetom
Hi, my garage is 28 yrs. old, is located in GA, which is humid in the months of May - early Oct., so there may be some ambient air/concrete temperature issues to deal with. With that said, the only prep I did was use a dilute solution of bleach on the floor. Then I washed the floor with tap water after vacuuming. I then applied the Rust-Oleum Concrete & Garage Floor Coating.

I see that this product is designed for 1 coat coverage but many of the comments are saying 2 coats were applied... I'm putting this down (with the anti-skid additive mixed in) more for grip than looks as our garage floor is very slippery when wet. I will be cleaning and etching the floor before hand; will one coat be good or should I plan on two? Thanks
Asked by: muttyranks
I will recommend two as many others do. It all depends on the floor you are covering and how it is used.

1 gal. Armor Gray Concrete Floor Paint (Case of 2) is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great paint for patio I selected this paint because of the Rust-Oleum name and wasn't disappointed. It went on easy with a medium roller and left a smooth finish. Took a little more paint then expected but it was a new pour and had a brushed surface not a finished surface like a garage.

I followed directions 100%. As for coverage I would purchase four gallons to do a two car garage. Two gallons does cover two coats (barely) but leaves a lot to be desired! The disappointing part is this is not supposed to leave hot tire marks but so far it leaves cold tire marks! I can only imagine what hot tire marks will look like. I used this product in two garages with the same disappointing results.

The only place on the entire can, and in all of the information from research online, that indicates this product has epoxy in it, is from the title ONLY. This si an acrylic paint, not any epoxy.

I was expecting a more glossy/shiny finish, however it actual turned out rather dull. No matter as the coating is extremely tough. I have already dropped (on accident) tools from the top of an 8' ladder while installing lighting and the floor did not chip or scuff. Even though it is not what I expected, it is one heck of a tough coating.

The product spreads easily, dries fast and has great hiding power. I vacuumed then double mopped the surface and waited until I was sure it was dry. I had to paint in three sections by moving all stored items to the center. Some items were heavy and had to be skidded back to the wall and I expected scratches in the coating but it was not damaged after 20-24 hours drying time. The sections blended in well and you can barely tell that they were done at different times and overlapped. There was no unpleasant odor and cleanup was easy. I have no idea how this will wear and resist stains but so far, I am very satisfied. I suspect there must be some regulation that this coating doesn't meet in my state because no Home Depots had it and I could not have it shipped to them. I had my order shipped to an adjoining state and went there to pick it up.
