Q:How many cans would I need for 1 bedroom wall
    by|Sep 19, 2023
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  Let's talk about this! Each can of Rust-Oleum Specialty Glitter Spray Paint has a recommended coverage of up to 5 square feet. However, since this is an aerosol product, we do not recommend applying this product to interior walls. Instead, we recommend using Rust-Oleum Specialty Glitter Wall Paint for interior walls. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-28-oz-Harvest-Gold-Glitter-Interior-Paint-2-Pack-360218/314861898 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Q:Can this spray paint be used on fabric lampshade?
      by|Sep 18, 2023
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  We hate to disappoint, Gigi, but we're unable to recommend the Rust-Oleum Specialty Glitter Spray Paint for a fabric surface. The concern is that the fabric is flexible, and the coating will be too rigid on that type of surface, and could crack. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 1

Q:Could I use this to paint a lamp shade?
        by|Jul 9, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Great question, Lynn! While Rust-Oleum Specialty can be applied to multiple different surfaces, it is only intended for hard, non-porous surfaces. It is not meant to withstand the flexibility of fabric, which can cause the paint to crack and peel. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

For the price to be so high on this it’s not wroth 1cents. You can. Not tell that you have spray the glitter on what your putting it on. The glitter do not stick on either what your spraying bad product not worth money are your time.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, Richie. For the best coverage, we do recommend applying Rust-Oleum Specialty Glitter Spray over a similar color base coat. We also recommend applying several light coats a few minutes apart to build the coverage.

          Very elegant touch
I bought this to add some shimmer/sparkle to my trims and baseboards. It worked beautifully and added the elegance and glamour I was looking for.

          Great for craft projects!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got the Rust-oleum Glitter spray paint for my craft projects. It’s very easy to use and gives a nice translucent finish with lots of glittery sparkles. It’s really great around the holidays. I use it on jars and lids to add the translucent look, but have also used it to add sparkle to dark glass or items I have painted. What a great way to recycle!

            Perfectly glittery crafts
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have really enjoyed using this gold glitter spray paint! I find myself looking for things to spray with the gold glitter. My favorite project so far is my gold glitter tree. I had to use a couple coats to fully cover the tree so it just looks covered in glitter. I think if I painted it gold or a dark color. The glitter would really make it pop. It is easy to spray and dries fairly quick.

              Is what it is….
Since I knew this wasn’t a “traditional” spray paint, I wasn’t sure how this was going to go. I used the Bright Pink on a PC case for my daughter. I’m super happy with the final result. Due to the glitter, it creates a rough texture, which I negated with a couple coats of Rust-Oleum 2X Clear. If having a smooth finish isn’t important to you, don’t bother with that step. Keep in mind, it took four cans to get an optimal, even finish on a medium size PC case.

                Nice sparkle
Used over the Rustoleum vinyl and plastic primer on an old plastic plastic chair. The first can didn’t work. Spitting out paint and then it stopped. Second can was better. Coverage wasn’t very good. The photo was taken after two coats. I would only recommend this because of the intense green sparkle.

                  Awesome Result!
Our first can of spray paint would not work, so luckily we had a second can. To troubleshoot this, Rust-Oleum support suggests spraying with the can upside down and, if that doesn’t work, the nozzle can be removed and soaked in mineral spirits to clear it. I’m working with MDF so I primed it first (primer is suggested). If you want solid coverage over white primer, you’ll need quite a few coats (4th picture is after only one coat). Test it first on some cardboard before spraying your actual project to get the feel for it. We couldn’t find our spray attachment, but using one on a spray can makes it a lot easier to spray. We ended up using almost a full can on these three pieces. Next time, I might try using a similar colour underneath first so I don’t need as many coats. For consistency, you need to overlap as you spray. I also suggest spraying in one direction and then at right angles for even coverage. Keep in mind that you have to keep shaking as you spray (and for a full minute between coats) or product can spit out unevenly. If you’re not diligent about this, you’ll run into issues. You can re-coat after a few minutes, so it goes pretty fast. I love the convenience of a glitter finish without having to break out glue and actual sparkles! If you read and follow direction, you'll get an awesome end result like us!

All the debris, none of the sparkle.
Even though I was hesitant when I read that the effects were questionable and the cans were often defective, I wanted to try them out. I bought the Multi Color Purple and the Pear White. To test it, I sanded and primed the handle of my vinyl hammer. Several coats of the glitter spray were required to get any substantial coverage. Still hardly an Intense Shimmer Mist. I then gave it several coats of Rusteum Clear Gloss. I have to say that I am less than impressed. There’s no sparkle. It looks more like speckles. Kindnn be of full, even. Oh well. On to the white. I take off the cap and see a bigcc BBC solid blob of clear on the nozzle. I clean it off and push down. Nothing. I switch it with the working nozzle from the other can. Nothing. Classic.

We appreciate you sharing your experience. For the best coverage with Rust-Oleum Specialty Glitter Spray Paint, we do recommend applying over a similar color base coat. If the sealer is used, several light coats are recommended. If needing further assistance with the can, please give us a call at (800) 481-4785!

                      Too much spray...not enough color
I do steampunk lamp projects and this paint looks really cool...but...you need too much of it.. I primed the objects(plastic lamp housings), and shook at least 2 minutes..upside down..rightside up..sideways...when it comes out, it seems to work Problem seems to be the product in the can...splurts out color..not constant..more of clear finish coming out.. Definitely seal with glitter clear to keep product as it chips off very very easily. Luv the idea but somebody has to re-engineer product dispersal on this. I spent over $60 to complete 2 projects for my grandsons..
