Q:Does this product come in a smaller size than 50sq. ft

Answer This Question

A:  Yes, 30 Sq Ft, 12 Linear Ft

by|May 2, 2023

A:  Yes, Countertop Transformations does come in a 30 square feet size.

by|May 2, 2023

A:  Yes, we purchased the 30 sq. ft kit.

    by|May 2, 2023

A:  I believe the 50 sq ft kit is the smallest. My recommendation would be to use it on other items such as side tables, kitchen islands etc. I suppose in a bathroom you could also use it on wooden shelving.

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes it will but you'll have to scuff the surface

      by|May 2, 2023

A:  Sorry, but we would not advise using Countertop Transformations (Model # 205167) on a marble surface.

      by|May 2, 2023

A:  yes but you need to be able not to use it for 3 to 4 days so it drys and sets

          Answer This Question

A:  Yes, fill in the grout lines with bondo and run a belt sander over the tile

          by|May 2, 2023

A:  Greetings, My name is Tom, also known as HD116 at Home Depot's How to Community. I am here today answering a few product questions and saw yours had gone unanswered for several days. The Transformations product is designed for use on Laminate countertops only as you cannot sand or scuff tile enough to allow the base coat to stick. Unfortunately, they have yet to introduce a product for tile countertops. Thank you for your question and I apologize for the delay in response.

          by|May 2, 2023

A:  Sorry, but Countertop Transformations can't be used on a tile surface.

Q:I have laminate counters with a wooden overhang. Can this product be used on both? Also, how much of the top do you have to sand down?
            by|Apr 24, 2012

            Answer This Question

A:  Yes it will work on both wood and laminate. You must sand down to remove the glossy top layer. The entire surface must look like tiny scratches are on it. The instructional dvd will show you what the surface should look like but you can also watch the video on the rustoleum website. I would also recommend the virtual kitchen make over to see what color works best with your cabinet color.

            by|May 2, 2023

A:  I can;t speak to the wooden overhang, however, I can say that you do not have to sand them down much at all. I just gave my countertop a good scuffing, so that the shine was removed, and the base coat adhered just fine. Hope this helps!

            by|May 2, 2023

A:  Yes it can be used on both but to look right you'd want the transition from the laminate to the wood to be even and flowing so fill it in if needed and make it smooth and if the wood overhang has a somewhat sharp or square edge, round it off as it will look better when finished

            by|May 2, 2023

A:  it can be used on both surfaces. the top only needs to be scuffed with the diamond embedded sanding block.

            by|May 2, 2023

A:  The Rust-Oleum Countertop Transformations® coating system will adhere to hardwood and metal trim. You will need to thoroughly sand the entire countertop in a circular motion in order to degloss the surface. Once the entire countertop surface, including the backsplash and front edge, has been deglossed you can move onto the next step.

                so much better than expected!!
I wanted to re-do my countertops, but did not have the money to have them professionally installed, so I thought I would give this a try. I am so glad I did, the countertops turned out amazing, even better than I expected!! The photo really doesn't do it justice! I am not your tyical DIYer, and I was able to complete this over the weekend, with no trouble. I just cannot believe how phenomenal they turned out, would definitely recommend this product.

                Very Pleasantly Surprised
We purchased a home which was built in the 60s, complete with the old 60s formica countertops. Not being in a position to spend thousands on a new countertop, I decided to try this product. It is amazing! I absolutely love the results, and the countertop has held up beautifully thus far. My mom had me do hers also, and now I have 2 uncles who want to try it, too. I agree with other reviewers in that you absolutely have to follow instructions for the product to work properly. Be prepared to work quickly and make a big mess! But then, be prepared for your countertops to look great for a tiny fraction of the cost of new countertops.

Very Easy with Better results than expected
This was my first large home DIY project. Being a novice I was concerned about taking on a project of this size. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how easy this kit was to use and the final product exceeded my expectations. The apply time is only 20 mins so this is a 2 person project. Also the chips can get pretty messy so expect a decent size sweep job. As long as you follow the directions to the letter you will not be disappointed. I would recommend watching the video included as well as some others posted online. Since this project was so easy I will be attempting to do my cabinets next followed up with my bathroom tile and sunroom floor. All using the rustoleum products!

                Great product for the price
This product was very easy to use and I just threw the chips on with my hands. If everybody were to follow the instructions there wouldn't be any negative reviews on this product as its exactly as they say. Pictures speak volumes...

                Better than I thought
I was not expecting it to be as good as it is, come out real nice, the prep was work and the time to dry is longer than they say but it is so nice looks like it cost a lot of money. I did not get the large one I got the small and it did a house in morrell park and I had extract, could have done both bathrooms with it.

Well worth the time and money!!
We purchased this product to update our existing countertops. The final results exceeded any and all expectations. It was very easy to do as long as you have a good understanding of the instructions and watch the instructional DVD. The finished product looks like we had the countertops professionally re-done. We couldn't be happier and would highly recommend this to anyone wanting an updated look.

                    Very easy project
The project went very well with appropriate preparation and planning. Plenty of product for the countertop I did in a commercial setting. Looks great. Plan for a dusty work area that needs a lot of clean up.

                    looks great
this kit is definitely worth the money! it's a little more involved and time consuming than the video lets on. for being 'low-odor', it did stink up our whole house for the entire weekend while doing the project, but that could just be because of our open floor plan. overall, we love our new countertops and are happy with our purchase.

The instructions for the final coat are terrible. I had to have the company send me a second application process
The finish of the cabinet is a bit to be desired. You can see streaks in the final finish. If I had the time and money I might try to do it over again or purchase a different material.
