A:  You just undo the latch at bottom right and lift up to clean.

      A:  The dimension of this is as follows: Assembled Depth (in.) 5.5 in Assembled Height (in.) 14 in Assembled Width (in.) 8.5 in Entrance Diameter (in.) 1.5 in Product Depth (in.) 5.5 in Product Height (in.) 14 in Product Width (in.) 8.25 in and yes, the bottom of this birdhouse is flat.

        A:  you can fix it to a post with no problem with a screw driver and screws. It has plenty of room for Blue birds for which I use them for.
