Answer This Question

A:  To pour an area 4' x 8' x 4" inches will take approximately 29/50lb. bags of concrete. Keep in mind that Fast Setting Concrete will set in roughly 20 minutes. It will be less if mixed mechanically. This does not leave much time to finish.

A:  This would not be an advised use of Fast Setting Concrete Mix. We would advise to using Rip-Rap. This is a sand and cement mixture packaged in a polyester scrim reinforced kraft bag. Please see the Technical Data Sheet regarding this product at Sakrete.com.

Easy to use and quick set, does hair line crack !!
All started easy simple and looks good, but after couple day the concrete itself start appear hair line cracks. (I patch it with caulk) Follow instruction of the water ratio for mixup, pour into a 10” tub for 4x4 post.

I needed it to set a umbrella clothes line in a big container so I could have it on my upstairs deck. I was a little confused on how much water to use. I like to have instructions like so may quarts water to bag. But it was not that clear. I called the company and a associate told me exactly how much water for a bag. I had 3 bags worked great. PS I'm a 70 year old woman. If I can use it anyone can. Only needed nephew to carry bags upstairs.

This concrete is great for setting post-holes; I needed something that was easy to mix and set quickly. It is also very strong when it cures. Once mixed with water, the concrete sets in about 30 minutes. I used this concrete when the ground and air were in the mid-40 degree range so I had a little extra time before it set. If it is warmer, you will have less time. You can mix this concrete between 40 and 90 degrees and minimum thickness is 2" for strength. I dug my post holes with an 8" auger (8" wide hole) and, with the post inserted, found I needed one 50 lbs bag per foot in depth of the hole. Most holes were 2 feet deep and needed 2 bags per hole. This mix can also be used for footings, concrete repair and slabs/sidewalks. I also like the 50 lbs. weight of the bag, it is much more manageable to carry around than an 80 lbs. bag. Mixing is easy, I set and braced my post all plumb, filled the hole with 1/3 water (I used warm water since it was cold out) then I poured in mix until the water rose the top of the hole. I then used a thin piece of scrap wood and pushed it through the mix until water was absorbed. I then added more concrete and mixed until the hole was full. The only problem I ran into was as the hole filled, the last few inches were hard to mix as water was pouring away from the hole. I had to add a little concrete and water until it was mixed right. I then used a trowel to slope the concrete up towards the post on all four sides (so water doesn't puddle around the post and rot it faster). Within 30 minutes after I finished, the mix was hard. I then placed a trash bag around the concrete to aid in curing and help keep it warm as night time temps dropped below freezing. I then waited 24-48 hours to put the fence on. Of note, since it reached freezing at night, I kept my concrete bags inside where it was warm which helps aid in curing.
