          Dark and rocky?
Thought this would be like beach sand.. it’s very dark and has small rocks. Not what I expected. I see another recent reviewer with the same experience so maybe some batches did get mixed up bc what I got looks nothing like the picture on the package. Of course I let my baby play in it before realizing this sand isn’t what I thought it would be. Ugh!

The Play Sand is not sieved to meet a specific size. The sand is also not controlled to meet a color specification. It is a natural quartz silica sand. Should you have any further concerns or questions regarding Sakrete products. You can contact us directly at 1-866-SAKRETE (866-725-7383). sakrete

Full of rocks. Your tanks got mixed up.
Bought this sand as well as some Sakrete Concrete mix on the same day at Home Depot. My concrete had no aggregate, only sand and my sand had tons of rock aggregate. Their factory tanks must have got mixed up. Huge screw up.

I needed to fill some 3 foot holes in a wet area of the yard where some tree stakes were removed. Sand would help to prevent erosion as the stakes were in the ground 2-3 years and the soil in that area is poor and prone to erosion. This sand did the trick and there was zero settling after 3 days of hard rain. This area of my yard sees wildlife visiting as well as yard play from people and dogs so the sand needed to be safe. Again, this sand worked perfectly for my purposes. Also, this was a good value to Price for a 50 pound bag. Also, I liked the fact that the bag was made of a heavy vinyl and not easy to rupture. I carried them in my car with no leakage and no resulting clean up. Also, the 50 pound weight made the bags easy to carry over rough and uneven ground the 300 feet to the designated location. The sand is high quality (washed as advertised) with no debris; just pure sand in the bag. I am very pleased with the product, the mfg. and Home Depot for carrying such a quality product. I would buy again. A++

              It's filtered dirt, not sand.
The photos in this description & on the package show white soft sand. In the bag, there is dirt. Brown mix of small rock, dirt & even some chucks of clay.

Needs better instructions to add water!
The product we received was very, very dry and powdery. I was worried for my grandchildren because of possible inhalation concerns. The sand was not moldable-just dust. Nowhere on the bag did it say that water should be added so I tested a small portion just to be on the safe side. Most parents/grandparents would have believed they had a bad product and felt they were cheated as returning it wouldn’t have been a option. Please add the instruction to add water-especially in dry, hot climates.

                  Not play sand
This is not suitable as a play sand. It is grit. Don't let the product photos fool you. It's exactly the same as "SAKRETE Multi-Purpose Sand" which is also not what the product photos show.

                    Not great sand for sandboxes
This is more like tiny rocks with lots of dust. Not like beach sand which is what the picture on the front looks like. I noticed after I bought it that the bag has warnings saying: not for prolonged or repeated exposure, wear protective gloves, do not breathe dust, etc. I am dumping this out and looking for another sandbox alternative. Thankfully it was only $5...

                      Best substrate Overall For Aquariums
I've been looking for the best substrate and have been through river rock, bottomless and now sand. And overall sand wins, River Rock isn't a good substrate if you have snails or have food that drops to the bottom. Sand on the other hand is friendly for turtles and fish, they dig into it, play with it, interact with it, it's basically perfect. You won't have to worry about squashing a snail either XD. I've read about going the pool filter sand route, but honestly, I don't know why you would choose that over this, but, time will tell, might end up being the filter that sees the negative effects in the very end. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GmwSuGrGVc
