Product Overview

Evaporative Coolers for Arid Climates
What Type of Evaporative Cooler is Best for the Climate I Live In?
This Evaporative Air Cooler, Humidifier, and Fan is versatile, lightweight and economical. The Cooler easily rolls from room to room for use anywhere in your house or office. This Air Cooler shoots a stream of air with oscillating louvers, to evenly distribute refreshing cool air. Can also be used as a fan or humidifier if temperature is not an issue. Plus get the air cleaning benefits of the ionic air purifier. The remote control allows you to easily change settings. The Air Cooler works by endothermic reaction (a reaction that consumes heat), so this evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water. As the air flows through the wick, some of the water evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that was in the air. An air stream is then blown out the front of the unit and is considerably cooler than the current room temperature. This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy. Note: This unit is not an air conditioner and does not have a compressor inside - air coolers will not lower a room's ambient temperature. Air coolers are designed for spot cooling. This unit is best used in dry climates or open spaces. Leave window/door open to limit the rise of humidity and for better air ventilation in the room. Add as much ice as possible and set unit next to you for best effect.

Questions & Answers

can you use it outside

Asked by butch July 7, 2017

This unit is specifically designed for indoor usage

Should there be anything connected to the top of the water pump which is located inside the unit?

Asked by sUmGuY707 November 2, 2015

Hello, This is not normal. Please contact our customer service team at so that we can trouble shoot your air cooler.

How often does water need to be added?

Asked by Beep September 19, 2015

Hello, I recommend changing the water at least once a day.

What kind of ventilation do you need for this cooler? I'm looking for something that doesn't have to go in a window.

Asked by mapitts September 16, 2015

You do not need external ventilation for the cooler.

Shoule the wick/fitler move? It looks like it might move through the water collector to insure the wick/filter is always wet. Mine doesn't.

Asked by JimB July 3, 2015

Having had house sized evap coolers, the water is pumped up and dripped down the meduim. I assume that this is the way this one should work too. My problem is that the medium to too thin to provide much cooling. Also, evap coolers do not work well when dew point is above 50-55F regardless of Relative Humidity.

can i use this to cool off my iguana in outdoor living

Asked by charlie1 June 26, 2015

I use mine to cool off my chickens, see no reason why it would not help with the iguana, humid conditions, a little moisture should not effect it.

Works Great! great features!
I've read lots of negative reviews on here about this product. I was hesitant but still bought it because the price is better than what I would pay for a portable ac unit. To my surprise it works great! If the place is very humid you may need additional help, which is why I also purchased a window fan. When humidity is up to 80% and the dew point over 70, it was hard to keep the place cool as I didn't use it in an open space, what works best is filling the item with ice and have it blow directly onto you. the cold air is comparable to an AC unit, the only difference is you have to refill with ice. When the humidity and dew point drops it works perfectly on fan mode. On a normal summer day (mid 80's), I use just the fan mode, it works very well in keeping the space cool, even so, at times I would turn it off or put it on a lower setting as the air would blow a bit to cold for my liking. Generally you can use the product on fan mode only for comfort, if the temperature goes up to high 80's - 90's and it very humid I would recommend using the cool mode and add ice. I also like the option to move the louvers up and down and the swing option. I would use the product all year round. I also like the timer option, and the Ionizer. When the cool mode is not in use I would recommend draining the water out and using the fan mode. Keep the water tank dry to prevent mold or stagnant water(I haven't experience mold growth in this product). Overall I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to pay the high price of a portable AC unit and want a comparable feel of an AC. The only thing I disliked about the product is that the opening to get water or ice in is a bit small. Water can get in Ok, but it would be better to use small pieces of ice. Also the door opening to the water tank is a bit flimsy, if I tried to put in huge pieces of ice the door would detach but can be reattached.

Just another fan.
It does not cool a small area any more than a regular fan does. It may help to moisten the air a bit if you live in a dry weather area; other than that, this is just an expensive fan.

More of a fan than a cooler
First when its arrived it didn't cool at all, so i have noticed that the water doesn't fall from the back and filter was dry. I opened the back and find out the tube that was suppose to pump the water to the top of the tower was disconnected from the pump. That alone its poor manufacturing sign and lack of quality control, but the problem is once it was install and even if added ice in the reservoir it wont really cool off the room. You will sense the air slightly cooler than fan, but its not what i grew up. I think they somehow messed up the water connection with the filter in the back. I remember back then water fell in a funnel that feed the filter and air sucked through the soaked filter. These guys have it designed that the water fall in between filters in mid air, so the air sucked between five narrow stream of water, which is poor distribution of water. while the right way is that water must fall onto the filter and air get sucked from the wet filter.

Returned it.
After running it for a few hours (with ice added) I could not feel any difference in the temperature. Besides, the plastic smell and the noise of the fan were annoying. I tried the cooler the next day in the attic room and again I did not notice any change in the temperature after running it a few hours. I returned it. I was very impressed with Home Depot's delivery however. I got the cooler within two days with regular, free shipping. Also the return was easy. No hassle. I will try a portable air conditioner instead.

Biggest mistake for a purchase ever
This cooler DOES NOT cool anything and must be constantly refilled with water and ice. Very useless product for such a high price. I will be returning mine!!

not great
This doesn't work as well as I expected, based on other swamp coolers I've seen. It just doesn't cool the area it's supposed to very well. We have a dry climate, so it should work. I figured the cheap one would be ok, because there's not that much that you can do wrong in the design. Nope.

50 -50
I purchased two of these units for spot cooling. One unit is working as it should, but the other had a bad fan motor right out of the box. It ran for a while, but would heat up and stop running. Home Depot accepted the return with full refund. I kept the working unit but would not purchase another since the construction is marginal. Go with a more robust model...

Do not buy
Does not cool anything. I'm not expecting it to cool any large areas as it is not designed for that but the air coming out of it feels rather warm instead of cold (or cool). Actually just an ordinary fan does a better job. Putting ice in it instead of water improves the situation a little but again, just buy a fan and you will get the same cooling effect. I know how well swamp coolers can work and I know that on "cool" setting the air should actually feel cold. Again, nothing to do with it's size, just that there is no cool air at all... Very disappointed. Returning the product!

Swamp cooler
Not sure if it will cool down my 10x10 room. It has been humid so no luck except it works like a fan. I hope it works better than a fan but I cannot confirm that it works any better yet.

Perfect for my need
I set up this fan unit inside my chicken coop, my egg production quickly jumped up by 5 eggs a day. The cooler air inside the coop really helped my chickens and got more eggs to boot. Winner ,Winner, but no chicken dinner, just eggs. GOOD UNIT.
