Product Overview

  • Computer controlled airflows
  • Water curtain cyclic system for effective cooling
  • With remote control
This Evaporative Air Cooler, Humidifier, and Fan is versatile, lightweight and economical. The Cooler easily rolls from room to room for use anywhere in your house or office. This Air Cooler shoots a stream of air with oscillating louvers, to evenly distribute refreshing cool air. Can also be used as a fan or humidifier if temperature is not an issue. Plus get the air cleaning benefits of the ionic air purifier. The remote control allows you to easily change settings. The Air Cooler works by endothermic reaction (a reaction that consumes heat), so this evaporative Air Cooler sucks air through a wick saturated with water. As the air flows through the wick, some of the water evaporates into the air, consuming the heat that was in the air. An air stream is then blown out the front of the unit and is considerably cooler than the current room temperature. This is not an air conditioner and therefore uses much less energy. Note: This unit is not an air conditioner and does not have a compressor inside - air coolers will not lower a room's ambient temperature. Air coolers are designed for spot cooling. This unit is best used in dry climates or open spaces. Leave window/door open to limit the rise of humidity and for better air ventilation in the room. Add as much ice as possible and set unit next to you for best effect.

Questions & Answers

can i use this to cool off my iguana in outdoor living

Asked by: charlie1
I use mine to cool off my chickens, see no reason why it would not help with the iguana, humid conditions, a little moisture should not effect it.

Shoule the wick/fitler move? It looks like it might move through the water collector to insure the wick/filter is always wet. Mine doesn't.

It doesn't seem to actually cool anything, just act like a fan. What am I doing wrong.
Asked by: JimB
Having had house sized evap coolers, the water is pumped up and dripped down the meduim. I assume that this is the way this one should work too. My problem is that the medium to too thin to provide much cooling. Also, evap coolers do not work well when dew point is above 50-55F regardless of Relative Humidity.

Should there be anything connected to the top of the water pump which is located inside the unit?

While in cool mode, water shoots out the top of the water pump. I dont know if that was normal or not because i noticed two tubes inside the unit near the pump, one of them clear and the other was orange with what looks like a connecting piece at the end of it.

Hello, This is not normal. Please contact our customer service team at service@spt-usa.com so that we can trouble shoot your air cooler.

282 CFM 3-Speed Portable Evaporative Cooler for 100 sq. ft. is rated 2.6 out of 5 by 74.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product I wrote an earlier review... but it is worth a second one. It is now cooling well. and has reduced the feeling of warmth to cool in the bedroom when I moved it there. One thing to note. 1. It is a swamp cooler, not an AC 2. It really cools you 3. ICE and ICED water makes it work much better (especially in humid climates or humid periods) 4. Have some ventilation 5. let the louvers swing 6. dont close it up in a small room without ventilation 7. can really assist a window AC, as a window AC evaporates humidity and this produces it to cool 8. On Humid Days, add lots of icewater and ICE (I am in the south and swamp coolers has to be managed different that dry climates)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far it is working great Read all the reviews, mostly negative. Not sure why. I am in inland CA and it is HOT HOT HOT (109) and Dry. Maybe it is not dry in those other reviews areas but it works great for me. It does not cool a large area but my 15x15 bedroom is about 20 degrees cooler today than it was yesterday before I bought this. So far, I like it and it does a WAY better job at cooling than a regular fan. Bummer is you have to keep putting ice in it (about once every hour or two). So far so good, for the price. Others run up in the $200-300 range so...that's my two cents!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product for the Price Very easy to use, it is already assembled from package. Cools small areas such as living room, bedroom, etc. Keep in mind that is a 100 SQ. FT., that is why it is less expensive compared to other portable coolers with a bigger square feet capacity. The quality of the product is good, in fact I buy this item because we were giving this product at work during summertime to cool out work area, which is inside a manufacturing and mold injection machine. I liked it and I decided to buy one for the family. It does helps to reduce electricity cost, sometimes the weather gets a little high and instead of using the AC, we use this product and keep the living room cool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! great features! I've read lots of negative reviews on here about this product. I was hesitant but still bought it because the price is better than what I would pay for a portable ac unit. To my surprise it works great! If the place is very humid you may need additional help, which is why I also purchased a window fan. When humidity is up to 80% and the dew point over 70, it was hard to keep the place cool as I didn't use it in an open space, what works best is filling the item with ice and have it blow directly onto you. the cold air is comparable to an AC unit, the only difference is you have to refill with ice. When the humidity and dew point drops it works perfectly on fan mode. On a normal summer day (mid 80's), I use just the fan mode, it works very well in keeping the space cool, even so, at times I would turn it off or put it on a lower setting as the air would blow a bit to cold for my liking. Generally you can use the product on fan mode only for comfort, if the temperature goes up to high 80's - 90's and it very humid I would recommend using the cool mode and add ice. I also like the option to move the louvers up and down and the swing option. I would use the product all year round. I also like the timer option, and the Ionizer. When the cool mode is not in use I would recommend draining the water out and using the fan mode. Keep the water tank dry to prevent mold or stagnant water(I haven't experience mold growth in this product). Overall I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to pay the high price of a portable AC unit and want a comparable feel of an AC. The only thing I disliked about the product is that the opening to get water or ice in is a bit small. Water can get in Ok, but it would be better to use small pieces of ice. Also the door opening to the water tank is a bit flimsy, if I tried to put in huge pieces of ice the door would detach but can be reattached.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GA & CA were right... Read the reviews of the people in CA and GA and thought maybe they were in humid climates and the evap cooler didn't work in their local. WRONG!! Living in CO and the relative humidity was about 5% when I put water in and powered up -- all kinds of pushbuttons, lights and functions, but it Did Not COOL ANYTHING!! Had to know why, so I removed the filter and, low and behold, rather than wood shavings that get wet and offer a huge surface area for the water to evaporate, there is a folded-over piece of open mesh nylon. The water runs down the mesh and does not dissipate into anything with a large surface area to promote evaporation! I did not listen to the other people: Don’t waste your money… IT DOESN’T WORK!!!! Back to the store…

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great performance and value. We live in Death Valley and our poultry were having a hard time with the heat, so we got this cooler. It's in a shady spot and really has relieved the distress our birds were experiencing. Love the ice/water option. I just put a frozen gallon jug of water inverted on top and let it drain. We love it, so do our birds!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good machine It is a very nice portable swamper, with the ability to add lots of ice to make it really cold. I rarely add ice because I keep forgetting after I am already in bed, trying to nap. It's a nice product. I have had no difficulty with it all. I'm sure if I had remembered to add ice I would have given it 5 stars for great performance but I find the water level gauge very hard to read. I can't tell if it's full unless I open the side door and shine a flashlight on the reservoir tank.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! This cooler is just the trick for cooling my bedroom - and I live in the hot Nevada Desert. I read the negative reviews and am surprised. Seems several bought this item thinking it would cool their entire house! I did not need to add ice or ice wtaer - just regular tap water and it works just fine for me...
