About This Product

Reno-T is designed for transitions between hard surface floor coverings that are the same-height. It can be used to retrofit an existing installation or can be installed during the tile installation. Reno-T overlaps the edges of the floor coverings to protect the edges against damage. Installation is quick and easy by filling the joint between the floor coverings with an elastomeric sealant, like Schluter-Kerdi-Fix and pressing the profile into the joint.

Q:If installing Schluter DITRA-HEAT radiant heating cable, can the cable be run "through" this transition? I am using different tile in 2 adjacent rooms, and want to be able to run 1 heating cable "through" the transition to heat both rooms. Thanks!
      by|Aug 10, 2021
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Yes, this profile works over the Ditra-Heat membrane between the tile surfaces. The profile is 11/32" in height so as long as the tile thickness with thin set is greater this profile will not come into contact with the Ditra-Heat cable. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact the Schluter Systems' Customer support line at 1-800-472-4588.

Q:How do you anchor the T shaped trim?

        Answer This Question

A:  At one occasion i used melted vax and it stood very good. Once you pour the wax you may dipp in it by heating the trim with heat gun. It would be also possible to fix it with expanding foam but I never tried it. Well, the easiest is to use the liquid nails glue which will take 24 hours to dry.

A:  Select the profile according to joint width, to ensure proper support of the lateral crosspiece. The joint cavity must be at least 3/8" (9 mm) deep and free of debris. Substances that inhibit adhesion must be removed from the sides of the joint. Fill the joint with elastomeric sealant such as Schluter®-KERDI-FIX or similar. Then insert the vertical leg of RENO-T in the joint so that the lateral crosspiece rests completely on the edges of the surface coverings. Remove any excess sealant with a suitable cleaner.

Very nice piece for the price. I purchased this to cover the exposed carpet next to newly installed tile. This strip added a classy looking solution.

This trim provides a very nice, finished appearance. The 1" wide trim is much better at covering the gaps than the more readily available 1/2" trim. For cutting, I used a chop saw with a metal cutting blade and to get good clean edges, I used a piece of 1x3 with a slot big enough for the t-shaped molding to fit in. This gave me a good foundation for the trim and allowed me to hold it more firmly and not allow the trim to shift while cutting. I used this trim to transition from tile to hardwood.

This is excellent quality stainless steel. I needed to cut to length to use as a seal for my barn doors. It took a bit to cut with a hack saw but got through it. Looks great, see photo.

I used the ceramic tile trim as a T-Astragal trim on my shed doors, forming a security barrier between twin 36" doors, preventing jimmying since I didn't had a middle frame bar between them. When I built my tool shed on the end of the utility shed, I searched out and found the subject anodized aluminum trim and it actually serves as an effective vertical weatherstrip.

I used this as trim around a new wall oven; the old oven was slightly larger than the new one. It looks great, but it was much harder to cut than expected with the tools I had. A jigsaw blade lasted for one cut. I ended up using a hacksaw but getting a clean cut was tricky.

We used this as a transition from a tile floor in the kitchen to the wood floor of the dining room. It looks great.

I like how flat that it is. It is also wide enough to cover the uneven tiles that were laid previously. Our installer just laid this down as his guide as he laid the new tiles. It looks great dividing the two areas.
