For best results, mix 1 inch of Scotts Lawn Soil into the top inch of the existing soil. NOTE: If depth of area is not within 1 inch of the existing grade after removing dead grass and weeds, additional Lawn Soil may be required. IMPORTANT: Mix thoroughly to avoid creating a distinct barrier layer between Scotts Lawn Soil and the native topsoil. This will allow grassroots to expand easily for more vigorous growth. If laying sod, cut the sod to fit the area precisely. Do not leave gaps between pieces of sod as this creates a home for weed seeds.

We do screen our soils prior to packaging however they will still contain some larger pieces of media. These bits of wood and bark are intentional and an important part of the soil composition, maintaining moisture levels for germinating grass seed and introducing additional nutrients into the soil as they break down.
