About This Product

SharkBite Max flexible water heater connectors are the fastest and easiest way to connect your water heater to existing pipes in your home. A newly designed stainless steel collet retainer delivers additional strength and durability and provides a 200 psi pressure rating. SharkBite Max connectors do not require a PEX tube liner, and a re-engineered body allows you to insert the pipe using less force and greater ease. No soldering, clamps, unions, glue, or special tools required. After inserting to pipe, stainless steel teeth bite down and grip the pipe tightly while a specially formulated O-ring compresses around the pipe to create a watertight seal. The flexible stainless steel braided hose reduces the need for extra joints or fittings, allowing for faster installs. Available in additional lengths (12 in. x 24 in.) and with integrated ball valve shut off.

Q:can this be used on the hot water output side of the tank? what is the max temp. rating?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello, SharkBite braided water heaters connectors are suitable for temperatures of up to 200°F and are suitable for use on the hot side of the water heater as long as this temperature is not exceeded. Most water heaters are set at 120°F but we recommend checking your system's temperature to be sure. If you have additional questions please don't hesitate to reach out to our technical support department at 877-700-4242. Best Regards,

A:  Yes it can be used on either side. I don’t think there is a max temp issue.

            by|Mar 21, 2024

A:  I don't know the max temp rating but in the description it specifically says hot and cold water lines for hot water heater. I used these on hot & cold lines of my mom's hot water heater when I installed it over 3 years ago and no issues

Q:How many times can you disconnect and reconnect at the same location before the unit starts to leak if ever.

A:  As many times as you need ! Sharkbite products are awesome !

              by|Dec 17, 2019

A:  Hello, SharkBite Universal fittings are intended to be a permanent connection and are not designed for repeated connection and disconnection. If the need arises to change a fitting after initial installation this can be done given that proper care is taken when removing and reinstalling SharkBite Universal fittings (steps below). If the fitting has been installed and removed more than 4 times we recommend using a new fitting and only using the previously installed fitting for testing applications. 1. SharkBite disconnect tongs or SharkBite disconnect clips must be used when removing the fittings. 2. The initial pipe and the new pipe must be clean and free from scratches and burrs. 3. Mark the correct insertion depth, insert the fitting to the mark, turn the water back on and check for leaks. Best Regards,

I, unfortunately, did not end up using this hose due to, of all things, the valve. My water heater was on a reinforced shelf in the garage and the copper pipes were not well placed to make an even transition so the Sharkbite hose needed to be in a loop for the supply side. With the valve on the end it greatly limited the bend I could put on the hose without kinking it, so I returned it and got the Sharkbite hose w/o the valve and it worked out great. I needed to step the connection down to 1/2" for this one so I used a valve-less hose as well with a Sharkbite 90 degree elbow and that worked out even better as there was no loop to make. Overall, I was stunned at how easy this install became using this hose system. Note: You really need to buy the Sharkbite pipe end tool. It looks like a pan flute with all the pipe sizes it supports for cleaning, and most importantly, allowing you to mark the needed depth of the connection onto the copper pipe. Too shallow and it will not stay on. All you do is push and turn on the copper pipe using the correct size opening to prep the pipe and then, without withdrawing the tool, mark a line on the pipe with it firmly in the tool. This is the depth that the fitting needs to be pushed on to the copper to have the proper 'bite' on the pipe! I'll post a pick of my completed project here. I have another size hose to review here so I'll be using this review and will adjust that one for size but mainly it will be the same review. I would definitely use these hoses again for other projects around the house. One last thing I forgot. Buy the small horseshoe shaped removal tool for the size connections you'll be making!!!!! If you make a mistake these will allow you to undo the connection without damaging the fitting. Small cost with a great 'just in case' value!

                  Very easy to use
I am a new home owner and have no clue what I am doing plumbing wise. The old electric water heater broke so I decided to replace it on my own. These guys made the job extremely easy. All I did was got a pipe cutter to cut the copper pipe and sanded the pipe to clean it up a bit then they just snap on. I will be using sharkbites for all of my plumping needs in the future.

This product worked perfect and eliminated the time to connect three or four fittings. Sharkbite’s release clip is the only thing that needs to be made better. “John Guest” fittings have a much better release feature.
