Product Details

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).
  • Versatile connector for various 90-degree connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • The A35's exclusive bend slot allows accurate bends to attach wood in a variety of configurations
  • Made from 18-gauge steel
  • Galvanized (G90) for extra corrosion resistance
  • Install with 8d x 1-1/2 in. nails or #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws

Answer This Question

A:  Screws is safer and more reliable than nails.

by|Nov 9, 2021

A:  The A35 is rated with either 8dx1 1/2" nails or the SD9112 structural connector screw. In some loading conditions the nail capacity is higher and in others the screw capacity is higher; please see our website for details. It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify for the fastener based on the specific application and demand load to be resisted. Thank you!

A:  Though it may be common practice, we can only support installations of our products as they were designed/rated. Altered installations would need to be evaluated/approved by the Engineer of Record. Thank you!

A:  Yes that should work fine. I bought some for a project and had no trouble bending them by hand. You could always use the vice and a hammer if you have trouble.

A:  They have notches so one can bend them even with a pair of pliers

A:  Yes. Metal is fairly easy to bend if held in a vice. The use a gloved hand, a set of pliers, or a hammer to form the bend to the desired radius.

            A:  duck bill pliers

            by|Dec 7, 2018

A:  You probably won't be able to bend it nicely. If you use a 4 inch table vice along with maybe a vice grip, then probably, but probably not nicely or neatly. It's pretty small and strong. The corners of it make it very strong and it's engineered to hold a lot of weight. It's cheap so maybe you should just buy a few to try bending it using different methods.

              Answer This Question

A:  You make that bend with duck bill clamp pliers, or hammer. packaging is easy when not bent and each installation would be different . aLeft hand bend or right hand bend. adjust to what you need by bending them on site.

              by|Dec 7, 2018

A:  Yes, the bend is done in the field depending on the specific condition. You'll notice the various pictures and illustrations show different installations and bends. They are also often used in installations that require no bend. Thank you!

A:  They have notches so you can bend them easily with a pair of pliers if you need to. If you don't you can use them as full size angle brackets

Structural engineer called for this A35 to connect 4x4 rim joist to a 4x8 beam for a balcony. Extremely strong when used with the correct screw. In our case, the 1/4"x 3" simpson sds screws were used and it passed inspection on the spot.
