Product Details

Not only do angles make joints stronger, they also provide more consistent, straight corners. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a wide variety of angles in various sizes and thicknesses to handle light-duty jobs or projects where a structural connection is needed. Some can be bent (skewed) to match the project. For outdoor projects or those where moisture is present, use our ZMAX zinc-coated connectors, which provide extra resistance against corrosion (look for a "Z" at the end of the model number).
  • Versatile connector for various 90-degree connections and home repair projects
  • Stronger than angled nailing or screw fastening alone
  • Help ensure joints are consistently straight and strong
  • Made from 18-gauge steel
  • ZMAX galvanization offers extra corrosion resistance for exterior and treated-wood applications

  • Install with 10d x 1-1/2 in. nails or #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws

Q:Will like to disassemble my project. So instead of using #9 x 1-1/2 in. Strong-Drive SD screws. Is it possible to use flanged tapping inserts and hex screws to attach the L bracket?

Answer This Question

A:  Hello Mango, this is McKenzie with Simpson Strong-tie. To achieve the published load resistance in our catalog, the only approved and tested fasteners are either 1.5" #9 SD screws or N10 (0.148" x 1.5") nails. Good luck with your project!

A:  Yes, in fact I used it for this purpose.

      Answer This Question

A:  Holes are about 0.168" and a #10 screw is 0.190" at shank and 0.130" at root of threads.

A:  Yes you can i used these with 1 1/4 in screws to hold 2x4s in place . I also used 2 in screws also in tge 2x4 and both plate boards

        by|Jun 3, 2020

A:  As our helpful friends have said in possibly too technical a fashion, a #10 screw is too thick for the existing hole size, #9 or #8 screws are much better choices.

            Answer This Question

A:  Yes but not strong enough. HD sells 90s that are short on one side and heavy

            by|Apr 30, 2020

A:  The A21Z is only rated for wood-to-wood applications. It would be up to the Designer to specify the appropriate connector, but you can find several options of post bases on our website. Thank you!

            by|Apr 17, 2020

A:  Can do that, but really needs stronger fasteners than this can provide.

I used the bracket for holding the picket fence tightly in this section on top and on the bottom the lower prices silver brackets. I liked using these instead of toenailing.
