A:  Hello Fred, a CC type cap is an option usually used for a heavier construction. It would be a special order item if hot-dip galvanized finish is required. The cap would need to be ordered with the following dimensions for a 3"-wide beam and a nominal 6x6 post: W1=3.25" W2=5.5". Note that required 5/8" diameter bolts and nuts are not supplied with the cap. Cap and fasteners need to have hot-dip galvanized finish for exterior wet conditions. You can also consider a pair of LPC6Z light duty post caps which fit over a 6x6 post and can be adjusted to accommodate 3"-wide beam.
