Product Details

The DTT2Z is a safe, cost-effective way to attach deck-railing posts to the deck framing for stronger, safer railings. Because the post is tied back into the deck joists, rather than to the rim joist alone, the connection is stronger than typical through-bolt installations. The DTT2Z is also ideal for guardrail-post connections and lateral-load connections between the deck and house.
  • Suitable for lighter duty holdown applications on single or double 2x posts

A:  The 1/4" x 2 1/2" Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector screws and the required standard cut washer (to be installed between the nut and the seat) are included with the DTT2Z-SDS2.5, but the 1/2" anchor bolt is sold separately (type/length to be specified by the Designer). Thank you!

    works great, design needs tweaking
    DTT2 works great. my only complaint is that you have to build up the joist with a second joist. the main joist, of course, is installed with the simpson strong-tie joist hanger LUS26, which gets in the way of the drill bit when drilling the hole for DTT2. It didn't occur to me until i tried to install DTT2 that all the helpful pictures one finds on the internet show it being installed on a joist WITHOUT a joist hanger.
