The H2.5A single-sided hurricane tie is designed to resist moderate loads at the rafter/truss-to-top-plate connection. As part of a continuous load path, the H2.5A resists both lateral and uplift loads. The symmetrical design eliminates the need for separate right and left parts.

Q:Could they be installed on the inside of the top plate, in existing structure?
by|Sep 16, 2020
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A:Â Hurricane ties are shown on the outside of the wall for clarity and assume a minimum overhang of 3 1/2". Installation on the inside of the wall is acceptable. (When installing hurricane ties on the inside of the wall special considerations must be taken to prevent condensation on the inside of the completed structure in cold climates.). For uplift continuous load path, install connectors in the same area (e.g., truss-to-plate connector and plate-to-stud connector) on the same side of the wall, unless detailed by designer. Thank you!
