Product Details

Joist hangers are designed to provide support underneath the joist, rafter or beam to provide a strong a connection. Simpson Strong-Tie offers a diverse line of hangers to handle almost any application with top flange, concealed flange and field-skewable and slopeable options. LUS joist hangers provide a connection between a joist and header.
  • Patented double-shear nailing design provides greater strength with fewer nails
  • Speed prongs for fast and easy installation
  • Angled joist nailing easier in tight spaces
  • Do not bend or remove tabs

Q:Can these be used for angled connections, like deck stairs, or only for 90� connections?

A:  Good morning Evan, this is McKenzie with Simpson Strong-Tie. The LUS series cannot be skewed or sloped. We do have other hangers that can be made at a skew or slope and even stock some skewed at 45 degrees and have some that are field adjustable. Depending on your application and demand loads you might be able to look at some of the following series; LRU, LSSR, LSSJ, SUR/L. Any of those can be searched on Strongtie.com.     A:  Hot dipped galvanized or stainless steel are really best for ACQ lumber ... so this is not quite the right part for that.

    A:  LUS hangers with Zmax galvanized finish are acceptable for use with preservative treated wood. The nomenclature needs to have letter Z at the end, e.g. LUS28Z. Required fasteners need to have hot-dip galvanized finish.

        A:  Simpson Strong-Tie offers multiple hangers for a double 2x8 member; please see our website or current catalog for all options. It would be up to the Designer/Engineer of Record to specify the appropriate hanger based on framing layout, demand loads, local building code, etc. If specifically looking for the LUS series, please see the LUS28-2.           These are not the size they say they are.
          So I spent a good amount of time looking for these because I have a house from the 1860s. I’m not sure if the people at Home Depot just don’t know what they’re doing but what I received was not 2 inches and basically useless.

          Hello, this is McKenzie with Simpson Strong-Tie. The LUS26 is sized for nominally cut lumber (1.5") and is the incorrect product for Rough cut 2x lumber (actually measuring 2"). For Rough cut 2x, take a look at options such as our U26R or LU26R-18. SimpsonStrongTie
