A little hard to answer not knowing where the copper pipe literally fits into this equation, but if it is a wall drain pipe than you can use either the included cinch adjustable section (Like I did and it worked well) or you can use an included adaptor to "shrink" the 1 1/2 down to 1 1/4 to be inserted into the wall pipe.
