Q:Does this work for oak worms? Just moved to a new state and bought a new home with 2 infested trees ?
by|Oct 8, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Though oakworm isn't specifically listed on the label, Thuricide BT Caterpillar control is effective on most caterpillars and worms. The University of California specifically lists Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies kurstaki, which is the active ingredient in our Thuricide BT, as a good microbial control for oakworms.

Q:I have lots of webs on all my fruit and flower tress and shrubs. The fruits and leaves are eaten and a lot of fruits are falling off the trees half eaten. There are many brown spots on the leaves and many have holes.

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Thuricide will control webworms. Apply to the leaf surface of the plant the worms are eating. The worms will stop eating almost immediately after ingestion, though it may take a day before they actually die.

Q:Does it work for bougainvillea pests?

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Thuricide is not a contact killer, it must be consumed. It controls caterpillars and worms, it does not control hard body insects. As always, read and follow directions carefully.

Q:Will this product kill squash vine borers?
        by|Jun 18, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. Thuricide Bt does not list squash vine borer on the label. It primarily controls worms and caterpillars. The excerpt below does suggest Bt may give some control. A method in use to control squash vine borer is syringe injection of the bacterial insecticide Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) into each vine by hand. In home gardens or small market gardens, growers often try to control squash bugs by hand picking or placing wooden boards near the plants, where squash bugs will congregate for hand collection and disposal. For squash vine borer, small growers are advised to slit each vine showing frass (the insect excrement) and extract the larva before the vine is irreparably damaged. information was published by: Katherine L. Golden!
As beekeepers, we don't use synthetic chemicals to control weeds or insects in our yard. I returned home from vacation to find my juniper covered with bagworms. Googled this and bought some. I was happily shocked by the results. The instructions spray once a week for 4 weeks. Week 1: the critters were sick. Week 2: a lot were dead. By the third week about 90% were not moving and the photo shows the day of the last treatment. I think I saw 2 move. Awesome.

Easy to prepare and spray over the plants. Cabbage worms were decimating my patio garden, but this stopped them cold. Reapplication on a regular schedule is best to keep pests at bay.

This worked really well to control caterpillars on my bougainvillea as well as tomatoes. All evidence of the little chompers disappeared in a day.

            Oleander Caterpillars
Works great. Caterpillars killed in no more than 5 minutes. I have been watching to see if any caterpillars return...nothing for at least two weeks. I will keep checking to make sure caterpillars do not return.
