          !!WARNING!! DO NOT BUY
I purchased the 7,500/6,000 watt generator over a year ago. It was only used twice during a power outage. I even made sure I ran the engine every so often and checked voltage. The last time I used this the engine shut off not too long after changing out the propane tank. After checking the tank and finding it still had fuel, I tried to restart the generator, but it was LOCKED UP. Since it is out of the one year warranty I called around looking for a small engine repair shop. All but one was willing to look at this Chinese engine. After having him look at it I was informed that the piston rod snapped and it would be cheaper to buy a new generator than fix this one, especially since parts are impossible to find. Don't waste your money on these imports.

            DOESN'T MAKE ELECTRICITY
So ... With a hurricane in the gulf, we purchased this unit , stayed in the box in the shed for three days and the day before the Storm, unboxed it, filled it with oil, hooked up the propane and it fired right up. But.. Aren't they supposed too produce electricity? Customer support said "Your brushes are probably worn out" In four minutes??? So they sent us a new AVR (AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR) (A week after hurricane Laura was gone) Now .... It still DOESN'T work and I am a ASE CERTIFIED auto repair technician I can't imagine how thrilled your basic handyperson would be with this

Simple to put together, no missing parts (even included a funnel for adding oil) Easy to understand controls and starting instructions. The price was reasonable but they should have included a battery and asked for a little more money. The battery size is very specific due to its location, so it takes time for the research to find which one is right for you for cost and a specific size/type. Other generators comparable to this have the battery included. Shame on me, I should have looked a little closer before purchasing this one. Unit started immediately once the gas got into the carburetor. Haven't tried the propane yet. - Russell

Unfortunately I have not set the generator up yet. I plan to only use propane. Propane is the way to go. Propane will not gum up the carburetor and propane will not go stale like gasoline. I actually bought this one and a smaller duel fuel generator for my camper too. When I went to assemble the 7500 generator it contained two spark plug wrenches and no bolt for the wheel. I contacted customer service and I am waiting for the parts now. So I only rated it 4 stars because i'm waiting on my part. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Power for all my tools away from home
Out on the farm with no electric this generator is a must, runs all my tools and the well at home when the town power is out, and that's often. My portable air compressor loves it. That's a tire getting air in the photo. I like all the 120 vt plugs and the battery charger. Robert

Would like to know how it runs!
I ordered the generator on line, so far I have received one that had damage to the generator itself so I returned it and had another one ordered. The second one came in with damage to the case of the motor so I returned it also. In both cases there was no damage to the box. The damage had to be done prior to the units being packaged at the factory. The third machine is on it's way now. We will see if it is damaged when I have the folks at Home Depot un-box it at the store, if it looks OK I will take it home and see how it runs.

Dual Fuel Feature Separates it From the Others
I have needed an electric generator for ages and finally decided on the Sportsman 7500 Watt Dual Fuel Generator with Electric Start. What stands out with this generator is the Dual Fuel feature, allowing either gasoline or propane gas as the energy source. After carefully reading the owners manual, I performed all of the startup procedures and fired up the generator using a 20 lb propane tank. I used the generator for several hours supplying electricity for several power tools, along with a refrigerator, freezer and lighting. I’m quite impressed with the generator’s performance and features. Comments on the generator (both good and bad) are discussed below: I contacted Sportsman to enquire about the motor used on the 7500 Watt Generator. I discovered that Sportsman contracts with either Honda or Kawasaki to supply the motors. Although the engines are “Made in China”, the Japanese Manufacturer’s Specifications and Standards are employed. After examining the motor, I’m certain it’s essentially the Honda GX390, 13 HP engine, without the Honda Label. The Sportsman generator is rated for a 6000 Watt running load, with a peak surge of 7500 Watts, and includes automatic voltage regulation. It has a 6.2 gallon fuel tank (with gauge), which will run 9 hours at 50% load. The main panel includes 2 pairs of 120 volt outlets (20 amp each), 1-RV 120 Volt outlet (30 amp), 1-120/240 volt outlet (30 amp) and 1-12 volt DC charger outlet. All A/C outlets have circuit breaker protection... It also comes with a propane regulator hose and a mobility kit with solid rubber tires and handles. I’m quite surprised at how quite the motor runs (less than 80 dB), which is typical of Honda engines. The unit is not supplied with a battery or engine oil. The space available for the battery is very small. Finding a battery that fits the space, along with a having the minimum 130 cranking-amps can be a challenge. I was able to find a suitable battery at a local battery store. The Sportsman Generator is NOT designed for commercial use and does not produce pure sine-wave power. It should not be used for sensitive electronics or computers without using a line conditioner. It is best suited for powering motors, appliances or lighting. I would have liked to see an hour-meter for monitoring usage and assisting in maintenance scheduling. An idle-down feature would be nice for noise reduction, increased runtime and less wear on the engine. Overall I’m very satisfied with the Sportsman 7500 Watt Dual Fuel Generator. The Dual Fuel feature is a huge asset. Using propane eliminates a no-start situation due to stale ethanol-tainted gasoline or a gummed-up carburetor. I plan on using only propane, and use the generator for powering essential appliances and lighting during power outages. It’s a very nice generator and a great value. Highly Recommended!!

Unit I received was the Updated sandstorm, so different than the pictures. Very pleased. Note: this generator is not quiet like you would need in a campground. In a power outage, this is similiar to all other open frame generators running in your neighborhood. I did a proper break in as suggested in Youtube videos, and am running on only propane, so it should be fine for any emergencies. My propane provider is happy to provide a hook up to it
