Questions & Answers

Someone didn't pass grade school math class. Product is listed as a 4-lb hammer (which is 64 oz). Details say 48 oz (which is 3 lbs). So which is it, 3 lbs or 4 lbs? Just FYI, you already lost the sale to this grade school level math error.

You must not have read carefully. Description says head weighs 48oz. Title says 4lbs hammer, which is 64oz. “Hammer“ includes head and handle, so by process of elimination you can figure out the handle weighs 16oz.

Bought an older Stanley 56-148... recalled?
I bought an older model of this hammer and began using it on a splitting wedge. The handle came apart within no more than 2 hours of use. The epoxy (or whatever adhesive) just sort of shattered. I haven't done anything about this before so now I am well out of the warranty period. I'm unsure whether I could acquire and attach a new handle. This was not the sort of thing I would expect from Stanley.

I HAVE MANY HAMMERS. SNAP ON, PROTO, NO NAMES AND I LOVE THIS HAMMER. THE GRIP CLEANS UP NICE AND DOESNT FALL APART WITH CHEMICALS. IT HAS A RUBBER TYPE FEEL EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS FIBERGLASS. IT DISAPEARED FOR OVER A YEAR AND I FOUND THE DING DONG WHO TOOK IT AND IVE USED THIS HAMMER EVERY DAY FOR 5 MORE YEARS. I FINALLY BROKE IT AND THE WARRENTY PROCESS WAS VERY VERY EASY. THIS HAMMER IS WORTH TRIPLE WHAT THEY SELL IT FOR.

Even weight, comfortable handle, and after a total of 7 hours hammering metal stakes, the head hasn't chipped once.
