Start Living, Sunny Side Up with this space-efficient coop-and-run combination. It's hand built from solid fir and roomy enough to comfortably sleep up to 4-chickens, if they are allowed to free-range during the day. The coop features a durable, corrugated plastic roof and covered pen, offering extra shade and shelter while a galvanized mesh-enclosed run gives hens a secure space to forage and exercise. 2-stall nesting box is accessible through a convenient, waist-height prop-up door for easy egg collection. This enclosure is simple to assemble, requiring only one person and an electric screwdriver. Additional run space may be provided by attaching one or more Universal Expansion Pens (sold separately), which is recommended for those who cannot free-range their birds during the day. To experience the full benefit of raising chickens, and to provide the best quality of life for your flock, we highly recommend allowing your chickens out of the enclosure to free-range during the day.
  • Sized to sleep up to 4-hens, assuming they are free-ranged during the day, if you are not able to give your chickens access to your yard during the day, we recommend keeping only 2-hens in this coop

          Answer This Question

A:  No, the material of the roof is plastic and has ridges in it that allows the rainwater to flow off. I live in Florida with a lot of rain and mine has stood up very well

          by|Mar 26, 2018

A:  No, the rainwater will be able to flow off the roof and will not collect on top. If you have any further inquiries, please contact SummerHawk Ranch at info@summerhawkranch.com.

A:  No rain slides right off

              by|Apr 20, 2019

A:  So far I have had no problems with water pooling or rotting. Summerhawk’s roof design seems very unique to me and it makes it very difficult for rain to collect anywhere.

Good starter hen house, if you plan on keeping hens you will end up building a larger house. we use it now when we get new chicks in the spring to separate them from the older hens. I added screen to the bottom to make it more predator safe, it would be nice if it had handles to move it around because of the droppings.

                            Summer hawk coop
Very easy to assemble. Took less than an hour. Looks really great in the yard and can't wait for the chicks to be grown to put them in the coop. I did apply some wood sealer for added protection since I live in a snowy climate.

                            Absolutely cluck-tastic!
Recently purchased this coop for my 4 chickens and they love their new home! It was easy to assemble with a screwdriver in about an hour and it arrived at my local store without any damage. Could not have asked for a better deal for the price. It has also withstood some pretty wicked weather that has torn through the area this spring. If the chickens could talk I am fairly certain they would say it is eggcellent!

                            Cute Coop
Assembly took my 12 year old son and I much more than the estimated half hour but we went over instructions carefully and took care in our assembly. I am sure if we were assembling a lot of them, half hour each would be possible. Directions were fairly clear. Recommend using a power drill for predrilling a few holes that are not predrilled and for tightening screws easily. There were several pieces that were damaged in the box. Two pieces had significant gouges, third piece had a knot hole split, fourth piece screw had ripped out of edge but was able to be reset. The first four are really cosmetic and mostly hidden once assembled. Of more concern is a split in the wood on the main door but it is backed by another piece of wood and my son wanted the coop set up so will just have to keep an eye on that piece. It is small, we knew this. Adults will not be entering to clean the pen or run. It is a tight fit even for my son.

I have now had the Victorian Teak chicken coop for one year and it is still in great shape. I purchased this brand because I was hoping it was sturdier than the others I had looked at, and it definitely is. This has been home to four chickens, two Buff O’s and two Barred Rock’s since April of last year (2018) and they fit comfortably in it, although only three large birds would be a better fit. Other than that I have only two recommendations that might make it better. One would be to have more rungs on the ladder & larger screws to make it more secure. My girls somehow, broke it from the coop. The second would be to raise the roost bars about 2” higher. I would definitely recommend this coop, or any of the other Summerhawk products for the backyard chicken owner.

Great Design. Building Materials could be a bit better, but great for the money. We have it inside a completely enclosed secure run. I wouldn’t trust it for a stand alone coop to be safe against predators.

                              Very Cheap Quality
I think this product is far too expensive for the quality of material used. Pieces arrived broken and the coop isn't very weather proof. It's also much smaller than what I was expecting, the product description says it can comfortably house 5 chickens, but I honestly think 3 would be more realistic. I won't be purchasing anything from this company in the future unless they improve the quality of their product.
