Product Details

Waterproof and weather-resistant, this heavy-duty round fire pit cover is an easy way to protect any outdoor fire pits. The PVC backing ensures durability and makes this cover extremely waterproof. A convenient drawstring and toggle tie at the bottom allows the cover to adjust for the perfect fit. Drawstring and toggle for secure fit. Cover measures 12 in. tall, if the fire pit is taller use the drawstring to secure under the bowl. Cover does not need to cover the legs of the fire pit.

          A:  We didn't put anything in the bottom.. how would you empty the ashes? We painted the whole pit with Heat proof black engine paint adding an extra coat on the bowl. we also cover the firepit when it rains.. saves a lot of maintenance.

          A:  The drain holes are really small...some small amount of sand could escape but not much. Sand isn’t absolutely necessary.

            A:  Your question does not pertain to this product, which is a cover for a fire pit and not the acutal fire pit itself. However, to answer your question about putting sand in the bottom of the fire pit, if the manufacturer suggests putting sand in the bottom of your fire pit, then you should do it. Sand will help dissipate the heat and prevent the bottom of the fire pit, or whatever is underneath it, from getting too hot. However, putting sand in the fire pit could retain water and promote rust so you will need to keep it covered and dry (or store it inside). A little sand will initially come out of the drainage holes and when you move the fire pit but it will be minimal and the sand will settle in and be ok. Not all manufacturers recommend putting sand in the bottom of their products so if yours does, there's a specific reason for it and should be followed.

                Would not recommend
                The description says this is for a 30" firepit. This barely fits my 30" pit. It's too small. It does not sit properly on the top and only extends half way down on the sides. The bottom 3-4 inches of the pit and the legs are exposed.

The size of the cover is 30 inches so if your fire pit is 30 inches we would recommend using the 36" cover or larger depending on the height you need.                     The cover only has a drawstring at the bottom. It is stiff and hard to pull tight. There are no vents and there are no leg straps. The fabric seems good but the fit is skimpy, barely covering the bowl of the fire pit. No coverage for legs at all. Fits tighter than the image.
