Product Details

The all-purpose medium duty TEKTON 4 in. Swivel Bench Vise is the bench-top work horse your garage or shop cannot live without. Whether you are repairing vehicles, metalworking, or assembling parts, you can work better, faster, and safer knowing your work piece is properly secured. Just lock it in and thread, fasten, build, bend, shape or sharpen with confidence. The vise is made from 30,000 PSI cast iron, so durability and dependability are built in. Put your project in the sure grip of the replaceable nonslip serrated steel jaws and it will not budge. For forming and shaping metal pieces, the polished anvil offers a smooth, consistent work surface. Rotate the vise around its 120-degree swivel base and you can position your work in just the right spot. Once there, dual lock-down nuts keep it in place. Turn the sliding T-bar handle and the jaw glides smoothly along the Acme-threaded main screw without binding or chattering, even as clamping pressure increases.
  • Cast iron construction (30,000 PSI tensile strength) with replaceable serrated steel jaws holds work with a sure, nonslip grip
  • 120° swivel base with dual lock-down nuts positions workpiece where you need it
  • Three mounting holes anchor vise securely to workbench

A:  They open up 4” but 3 7/8” is probably the largest you can actually clamp.

Q:What size bolts do I need to mount it

A:  3/8" x 2" hex head bolts with large flat washers and 3/8" lock washers and 3/8" nyloc nuts. Also used permanent loc-tite applied liberally to the bolt threads. It will not be moved by a hurricane. Can't go wrong with this setup on a workbench with a 3/4" plywood top. President Chump's wig isn't as strong.........

A:  I used 5/16" bolts and they fit with just enough clearance to make a good solid mount. The cast holes in the vise base are a nominal 3/8" dia. but you would have to drill them out to accept clearance for a 3/8" bolt. 5/16" bolts are strong enough to handle anything this vise will be used for.

A:  I mounted my 4" Tekton bench vise to a 24" square piece of plywood that will be bolted to my B&D Workmate for stability. I don't have a work shop / bench anymore so I have to improvise where I can. The holes in the vise base are cast as nominal 3/8" dia. A 3/8" dia. bolt will not fit unless one was to drill out the holes. I decided on 5/16" socket head cap screws (round head will clear the cast flange / feet on the base) with "nylok" hex nuts and flat washers (under side of plywood for better bearing surface) to make it secure but easy to remove and store when done with my projects. Home Depot only sells metric socket head screws in my area. I had to go to my local hardware store to pick up three 5/16" SHCS. Either will work, I just prefer to use inch hardware.

Too soon to really tell, but looks just like what I wanted to hold chainsaw for sharpening plus other occasional jobs. Main screw action is a little rough, but this vise is very inexpensive.
