About This Product

The Trans-Atlantic surface vertical rod "crash bar" exit device comes in an Aluminum finish and fits doors up to 36" and can be field sized to accommodate smaller doors. It fits doors 7 feet high, but a 12-inch extension rod is available for purchase. These panic devices blend the utility of a vertical rod application with the appearance of a traditional "crash bar" device. They are suitable for wide stile Aluminum, wood, and hollow metal doors. The contoured cross bar is ADA compliant and exceeds ANSI standards for Grade 2, making it the perfect fit for any commercial and industrial applications where heavy usage is anticipated. Includes a top/bottom latch and mounting hardware, but the exterior lever trim is sold separately.

          Solidly built. quality materials
Thought I would be able to do this as someone who is fairly handy. After reading and figuring out how it works by taking it apart I decided to have a professional locksmith install it. The instructions are actually pretty straightforward and well written. The pictures are good. It gets foggy when trying to install a lock into the door and this crash bar. Wouldn’t be an issue if your replacing a crashbar. Designed for a 36 inch wide door. Fit and finish are good. The latches and strikes are smooth and solid. Internal pieces have very little play. The rods can be adjusted depending how the strikes are mounted to the frame and floor The “handing” can be easily reversed to use on a left or right hand door.

Definately need an aptitude for this kind of installation...took at least an hour getting eveything figured out.....had to use a cut off grinder at one point which is most likely required for any installation situation.... i like the finished product though....
