These are "comparable"replacements for GE OEM filters. Not sure if these are made by GE but either way they seem to be just as effective and are far less expensive than the OEM filters. My current refrigerator isn't a GE, so I'm installing these filters behind my refrigerator from the external water line so I can use it with the brand I own now. All one needs is the proper fittings that will match up with what is there. In my case I purchased some 1/4 inch brass fittings that will screw into the ends. A quick trip to Home Depot with a few pictures of what you have and the associates there will be able to line you up with the fittings you need, if your not using the ones that come with it. A 14MM or 5/8 wrench work fine to remove the fittings, just be sure to use the closed end of the wrench as they are plastic and an open end will likely slip.If your tight on space behind your fridge and need it to go all the way to the wall you can, which I have done in the past, cut a piece of drywall out of the wall an insert the filter into that space. These filters work perfect for filtering the sediment and orders that can fowl your ice cubes and city drinking water. Thank you HD for selling and stocking these cost effective fridge filters !

Good water filter replacements, but leaks. The replacement water filters fit the GE fittings perfectly, but after a few minutes they began to leak at the top of the filter around the threads of the male part of the quick connect fitting. I removed the male fitting from the filter and sealed the threads with Teflon thread seal tape. Other than the leak, the filters work fine. Just one cautionary note is that GE no longer makes these filters with this type of press and release fittings. If you already have this type of system from GE, then these replacement fittings work fine. Follow the instruction for installation and be sure to flush the filter before connecting the refrigerator side of the filter. This gets all the carbon residue out of the filter.

This is a great product. I have used this product for my water line in my refrigerator. I used this filter even though I have a water softener this product removes additional material that would make water taste bad or ice cubes would have rust or leave a bad taste. This product is easy to install and eady to use. I will continue to use this product and recommend it to all people.

This item {Tier1 GXRTQR Inline Comparable Replacement Water Filter Cartridge} is a good value as (3-Pack) . I have used the original GE or equivalent filter for many years with good success. The part number on box IN-WF0170 and product details can be located at manufacturers website "www.tier1water.com". They claim this filter reduces chlorine, rust and sediment to provide a refreshing taste in every glass of water. the website reveals Primary Filter Media is listed as "Activated Carbon Block" They proudly display Images, seals, logos ( WQA, NSF, ISO ) on box that claim to show that product is certified, tested; I am skeptical. The filter cartridge is sealed in clear shrink wrap. Manufacturer stipulates : "Unconditional Product Guarantee for Life of the Product" Inside the box is a set of convenient stick-on labels to mark DAY, Month filter was placed in use. Manufacturer also includes a set of instruction on a smallish (8" x 5") form in microscopic text the senior eyes can't read even with magnifying glass. I have not yet placed this in-line water filter brand in-use, as such, I cannot comment on the resultant filtered water taste. With the original GE product no longer sold, it has been difficult to locate an effective & economical replacement. The product does had the original quick connect fittings. Years ago I found those fittings can be unreliable if not connected perfectly; so I just remove the 1/4 in plastic nipples (MPT) and then connect filter to my supply line using standard 1/4 in brass fittings for copper tubing. It takes a bit longer, but is leak proof.

I have to change the water filler on my refrigerator every six months. The filter that is designed for my model refrigerator has risen in price by triple in the last few years. I decided to put an in-line filter between the water supply and the refrigerator. I chose 3 in-line filters ( with a 6 month life span and a very reasonable price) for the price of one designed model for the refrigerator. The in-line filter is very easy to install by cutting the 1/4" water supply line square and pushing the inlet and outlet supply until the tubing bottoms out on the filter in and out connections. This is a very economical way of filtering the water to the refrigerator. Yes, this will work but remember this is an in-line-filter you should change out the one designed for your refrigerator at the same time you would place this filter in-line. When the change light comes on to replace your filter....leave the designed filter in and change out the in-line-filter. This will enable the designed for the frig filter to remain as the backup and may never have to be replaced as long as the in-line filter is changed every 6 months.

I am odering 3 as the replacement GXRTQR
I will seal the threads better. I don't know if the package has new fittings to attach to the tubing? I will gladly try aftermarket products when the design of the new filter is not better. Just more plastic in the new.

It doesn't taste as good as the GE filters and it's smaller. But, Thanks, Tier1 for making this replacement. No problem with installation.
