Answer This Question
A: Titebond III has an official Shelf Life of 2 years from date of manufacture, but with good storage conditions, should remain usable for 4-5 years. Storing Titebond III (or Titebond II) in temperatures above 80°F can reduce usable life significantly. Typically, Titebond III will form a thick brown gel when it is past its usable life. The lot number on the bottle will give the manufacture date. The lot number is dot matrix printed in black ink on either the shoulder of the bottle or on the bottom. It will begin with the letter "A", followed by nine numbers. Format is Ayymmdd### where yy is the year, mm is the month and dd the day of the month the product was manufactured. ### is the batch number for that day. Q:an this be used to construct an outdoor wooden grill stand? Exposed to the heat and elements.
by|Jul 17, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Yes, Titebond III can be used to bond wood together for exterior use such as an outdoor grill stand. Exposures up to 150°F are OK. Use mechanical fasteners in addition to the glue for use at higher temperatures. Use of high moisture treated lumber may require drying of the wood before glue can dry properly.

Titebond III
I could find cheaper glues but when a glue works as well as Titebond III, why would you trust your projects to anything else?

Indoor/outdoor wood glue
I am making a cover for a well in a friends yard and decided to make it look like a little Tardis from Dr Who. I used 1.5x1.5 inch pieces of wood to put in the inside corners of the box for strength and used Titebond 3 and wood screws to hold it in place. For the outside I used 3/16 inch thick strips of wood for cosmetic purposes only and used the Titebond 3 and a brad nailer to hold the strips in place while the wood glue dried. The reason I'm using Titebond 3 is because it is rated for outdoor use.

Strong joints
While making 1 inch thick end grain cutting boards from a mixture of oak, maple, ash and walnut my first pass on the end grain with planer exploded the piece. All the glued joints with titebond 3 were still intact. Only the wood shattered, not the joints.
