FIELD TEST YOUR PRODUCT!
-The impeller housing has a gap that allows snow to shoot through it :( -There are blisters and other cosmetic weld defects on several areas. -The Lever Cap for the QuickStick does not easily lock. I must use two hands to perform this operation... one to stabilize the QuickStick and the other to lock the Lever Cap. While the third defect could be due to "special causes of variation" during manufacturing, the first two should have been flagged during the pre-production phase. This leads me to the question: Does Toro have a reliable pre-production phase This product seems to have been rushed to market without the proper steps and TIME it takes to install quality. Assigned reading: "The Cost of Poor Quality" by Joseph Juran. All of this aside, the 1028 OHXE does perform very well in removing snow. Wet, dry, heavy, fluffy & light... this unit has dominated all types of snow. Yet, I feel let down because I paid a premium for a product that contains glaring defects.

    Awesome, versatile and powerful
I purched my 1028 in 2012 and it has been a reliable workhorse. The only reason I cannot give it 5 stars is due to the Nikki carburator. The carburator lacks any adjustment other than idle. Also, the plastic stem that links the choke knob to the carburator is an integral part of the carburator. I had alot of trouble removing the choke knob to service the carb and any breakage of the plastic stem would have resulted in having to replace the carb.. In 2012 when purchased, the 1028 utilized a Briggs and Stratton motor. I believe the new motor is a Kohler...Hopefully the carb situation has been eliminated.

      The best snowblower owned
Been blowing snow for over 50 yrs and this is by far the best snowblower I've ever owned. We have a 20x100' driveway along with about 600' of grass and rugged trails. Before purchasing the Toro 38841 last fall we had the opportunity to evaluate for a full winter season a 30" 2x stage yellow machine and a 28" 2 stage orange machine with the automatic steering. The yellow machine did not throw snow as far as the Toro, plugged frequently, and was very flimsy. The orange machine threw snow almost as far as the Toro, but the auto steer was a nightmare on the lawn and trails.(Even after dealer adjustment). This Toro is a great all around machine. Have not been able to plug this machine after using it for one full winter season. It never bogs down even with the heavy snow and slush from the plows. There have been some complaints about the chute control but I've found that grasping the stick with my hand and using my thumb on the blue button to control the deflector it works just fine.

It really is "The Beast" !!
I purchased this snow blower earlier this fall in preparation for an early snow and I am so glad I did. Minnesota's early snow's are wet and heavy and more than my 30 year old Toro 521 could handle with a three stall driveway. With over 5 inches of wet snow this Power Max threw the snow over all three stalls of my driveway and in the middle of the yard and never plugged, even with the snow piled at the end of the drive after the plow came through! Buying this Power Max has made snow removal fun again and I can't wait for the lighter, more powdery snow! Bring It On!!

          Nice snowblower!/ Worst User Manual
Its too bad Toro makes a very nice product yet, provides one of the worst user manuals I have ever seen in any product I have ever purchased....this includes the downloaded version of the manual. I would be more understanding if this was a no-name cheapy snowblower that I could buy for less than half the price of this Toro. This kinda tells me Toro cares more about the bottom line instead of caring about their customers. A friend of mine purchased another leading brand snowblower a couple weeks after I purchased my Toro. His came with a nice detailed user manual. Didn't have to download and print it either. In the spring, I am likely purchasing a lawn mower. I was leaning towards Toro but, that could change now. Makes you wonder where else they are cutting corners.

This Machine Clears snow with ease
Recently moving to Wyoming, I needed a snow blower for my 60 yard driveway. I must say this machine makes little work of clearing my property. It starts on the first pull every time, is easy to handle and shoots the snow a good 50 feet easily clearing my driveway. My local dealer delivered the machine full of gas, tuned up and ready to go. I was shown how how to use all the functions of the machine.
