Answer This Question

A:  Hi, and thanks for your inquiry regarding the Traeger Pro Blend Pellets. All Traeger pellets are made from 100% hardwood in one of five, Traeger-owned U.S. mill facilities, without using any fillers, binding agents, bark material, or artificial additives. In addition to oak, the Pro Blend will also provide hints of hickory and cherry that pairs equally well with beef, pork or poultry.

    Answer This Question

A:  Hello, and thanks for your inquiry regarding the Traeger Signature Blend Pellets. There is quite a bit of information regarding Traeger pellets online, but not all of it is accurate. Every bag of Traeger pellets is made from 100% natural hardwood (therefore, no pine), sourced from one of five Traeger owned U.S. mill facilities, without any fillers, binding agents, bark material, or artificial additives. No wood flavored oils are used, and each pellet variety is made with the specific flavor wood (e.g., apple wood, mesquite wood, etc.), along with some oak or alder to keep burn temperatures consistent. The only oil that is included during production is a small amount of food-grade soybean oil for the purpose of lubricating the machines. For all of our specialty blends, this same oil will also have herbs, spices and/or citrus added for infusing the natural ingredients into to the pellets. In the case of the Signature Blend, it is simply referring to the blend of wood used, which is designed to have subtle hints from the different wood types for complementing a wide variety of foods, especially BBQ meats, fish, & vegetables.

Q:How long should 40lbs of pellets last?

      Answer This Question

A:  If you cook at low temperature, say 225F, it will last about 30 hours. The higher the temperature, the more pellets the Traeger consumes.

A:  Hello, and thank you for your inquiry regarding the Traeger Hickory Pellets. There are a lot of different factors that can go into the burn rate of pellets, so we are limited to providing fairly rough estimates. Although the temperature setting will obviously have the biggest affect, things like the number of lid openings, grill size, ambient temperature, and even wood type can all make a difference. But for a very approximate estimate, you can expect to burn about 1 pound of pellets every 2 hours when using the lowest setting, and about 1 pound per hour when the grill is set to 300.

Q:Are these ok to use in the Ninja Woodfire Electric OVEN? Has anyone tried them in it yet? It also uses pellets, which are a bit pricey in comparison.

A:  Thank you for asking. Our 100% natural hardwood pellets can be used in any device that uses all natural hardwood pellets. We only test the pellets in our Traeger and can't say how they will work. I would recommend checking with your owner's manual or support site for your product and see what they recommend. You can learn more about pellets in the support page on traeger.com.

The pellets were loaded with saw dust and that usually means that they were stored improperly, had a grill failure during a cook due to the pellets!

Hi, and thanks for your review of the Traeger Apple Pellets. Dust can form in a couple of different ways, including as a result of how the pellets were stored. If kept where there is too much humidity for an extended period of time (including inside the grill), the wood can slowly absorb moisture from the air and start to degrade. But if this happens, dust won’t be the only problem, since even whole pellets will have become compromised, ultimately affecting how well they burn. However, when it comes to a new bag, it is more likely that the dust is a byproduct of transportation or handling, but either way, this won’t be a problem unless the entire bag gets poured into the hopper. To avoid the dust issues completely, simply scoop out the pellets with your hand, or even a slotted spoon, so that the majority of the dust sifts out. But if you suspect that excess moisture is the culprit, just take a couple of pellets and break them between your fingers. If they take a little effort to break and snap cleanly in half without crumbling, then you should be good to go. But if they fall apart fairly easily, or have lost their sheen, you may want to consider replacing the bag. TraegerService

              product was soaked
Delivery guy did not put it on my sheltered front porch. Left it at the garage door where the rain ruined it. Pellet grill pellets dont work when they get wet I would like a replacement shipped to me.

                Pro Blend pellets were clunky
Big fan of Traeger pellets but it seems the Pro Blend pellets are sometimes clunky and mushy. Not a great deal when 20% of the bag is unusable

Hi, and thanks for your feedback on the Pro Blend Pellets. If any bag of pellets includes some that have become soft or clumped together, you may not want to use any of them, even those that appear to be good. Both conditions are an indication that moisture has compromised the contents during storage or transportation, which will affect performance, even if it is not obvious with some of the pellets. If you have no choice but to use them, try breaking a few between your fingers as a test. If they take a little bit of effort and snap cleanly in half, they should be ok. But if they come apart very easily and crumble when breaking, they could be more trouble than their worth. TraegerService
This is my favorite pellet blend plus when you buy 4 you get 15% off each one. Has great flavor in the foods I cook with this and always gets a good result from my Traeger grill!! Very happy that it is always in stock at the local Home Depot!

Not as good as other Traeger pellets
I bought 2 bags of pro blend pellets recently. I have had the smoker stop cooking on both cooks I where have used them. The bags are loaded with pellets up to 2.5” long. Those long pellets causing the smoker to starve out. Never had this issue with the Signature blend. I will be returning one bag and getting the signature blend.

Hi, and thanks for your feedback on the Traeger Pro Blend Pellets. Although you may occasionally find longer than usual pellets from time to time, it won’t necessarily be the case for every bag of the same wood type. However, if you ever discover that your pellets are like this, simply tapping the bag on the ground several times should easily break the bigger ones into more typical lengths. TraegerService
