Q:Can I use charcoal pellets with this model?
by|Apr 9, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Hi, and thanks for your question regarding the Pro 34. Traeger pellet grills are designed to burn food-quality, wood pellets only. Charcoal pellets should not be used in any Traeger grill, even if the pellet size appears to be similar. For the best results, Traeger brand pellets are made of 100% natural hardwood, providing consistent performance from bag to bag, and grill to grill.

Q:Does this include the grease bucket
    by|Apr 1, 2024

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi, and thanks for your interest in the Pro 22. All Traeger grills that use a grease bucket, such as the Pro 22, will have one included with purchase. There are also grease bucket liners available that make cleanup much easier and will extend the life of the bucket. They can be found by either searching for “Traeger bucket liner” or the part number, “BAC407”. Just be sure not to select the mini buckets, which are for the smaller, tabletop grills.

Q:Are you able to use the traeger pro series 34 as an actual bbq also?
      by|Mar 30, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hello, and thanks for your interest in the Pro 34. Traegers are designed to be an all-in-one outdoor grill, cooking both traditional BBQ items, like burgers, brats and wings, or more smoker specific foods, such as briskets, pork butts and whole chickens. The biggest difference between how a wood pellet smoker cooks food and how it is done on a gas or charcoal grill, is the method of heating. While a BBQ grill has the flame exposed, directly cooking the meat by radiant heat, smokers have the flame covered, resulting in cooking by convection. What this does is provide complete, even exposure to heated, smoked filled air without needing to flip or rotate whatever’s on the grill. You can alter the results by simply changing the temperature as well. For quicker meals that come out more like they would on a gas/charcoal grill, just set the heat higher. But if you are wanting to smoke something more slowly for maximum flavor, then keep the temperature low. For a better idea of how many different dishes can be cooked on the Pro 34, as well as detailed steps for making them, check out traeger.com/recipes for a list of over 1600 options, all specifically designed for being made with a Traeger.

Q:How do you control the temperature?
        by|Mar 21, 2024
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Hi, and thanks for your inquiry on the Pro 34. Non-WiFIRE Traegers, including the Pro 34, control temperature with a dial directly below the 3 digit display on the outside of the hopper. With 10 available settings, from Smoke (approx. 185 degrees) to High (over 425 degrees), and 8 options in-between, you’ll have the range to slow smoke briskets, or reverse sear steaks, all in one versatile grill.

The Best Grill Ever Traeger Pellet Grill
I always wanted a good grill to do outside cooking and I have heard so much about the Traeger Pro Pellet Grill Series, so I went out and purchased. It’s so easy to set it up and to start barbecuing and you don’t have to worry about your meat burning. This grill cooks perfectly and you don’t have to turn your meat over, it’s cook both sides. So I recommend if you want a good grill, go out and buy the Traeger Pro Pellet Grill Series, it’s the best grill ever for outdoor cooking…..

            Response from TraegerFeb 14, 2024
Hi, and thank you for your feedback on the Pro 34. The LEr code is typically only displayed when the grill stays below 125 degrees for 10 minutes. The vast majority of the time, this is caused by only a few different reasons, including an incorrect chimney cap height, poor pellet quality, excessive dust in the bottom of the hopper, an issue with the fan or RTD probe, and even an incorrect startup procedure. To get more information on this type of error, search “LEr” on Traeger.com to find an article with several steps to try. Or better yet, call Customer Service and have an agent go over everything with you. Issues like these are often very easy to correct and our lines are open seven days a week until 10:00 PM MT.

Since getting the grill last spring, we have consistently faced issues like emitting uncontrollable smoke, causing our meals to take longer, and uneven temperatures. "Set-it & Forget it" is NOT an option because the results aren't consistent as TRAEGER states on their website. We have followed all maintenance recommendations provided, spoken with countless TRAEGER representatives. For the price we paid for this piece of junk, this is unacceptable. DO NOT GET ANY TRAEGER PRODUCT!

Response from Traeger GrillsFeb 14, 2024
Hello, and thanks for your review of the Pro 34. What you are experiencing is really only attributable to a few things, so a resolution shouldn’t be that difficult. More often than not, this behavior is simply related to an issue with airflow. Without enough oxygen getting to the firepot, the pellets will smolder instead of burn, creating the exact type of smoke you are seeing. But whatever the cause, most of the time, the resolution will not be that complicated. And although troubleshooting with an agent may sound a little involved, it is very seldom the case. Often times the resolution is achieved with one short call and is typically not related to a malfunctioning part of the grill. But even in cases where something needs to be replaced, the process is almost always very simple, and the part will be sent at no cost to you as long as the grill is under warranty. While having us reimburse money or replace the entire grill may be preferred, please give us a chance to help you get your Traeger running. You might be surprised how easy it turns out to be, and it almost certainly won’t take hours on the line to do. TraegerService

I've used this a half a dozen times now and come to the conclusion that it's not worth the price. It does smoke meats, but you can do that for a lot less money. Advertised to hold set temp +/- 15 degrees but I've seen it fluctuate as much as 65 degrees. Not what I would call an acceptable range for the Traeger expense. I've smoked for years with a manual propane burner wood chip unit at 1/3 the cost and it held temp better than this digital Traeger. Yes, I'll admit, I fell for the Traeger marketing hype and as of right now, that's the best thing about this grill...

Response from Traeger GrillsJan 21, 2024
Hello, and thank you for sharing your experience with the Pro 22. As you have correctly stated, 65 degrees of variation is definitely not an acceptable range for any Traeger. While it may be possible to see as much as a 25 degree swing, even this is extremely uncommon, with fluctuations typically being less than +/- 15 degrees. Usually, excessive shifts like this are related to air flow, pellet quality or grill condition, but on rare occasions, they could also have something to do with the thermostat. To check this, simply compare the initial start temperature reading of the grill to the ambient temperature. As long as it is not off by more than 20 degrees, it should be good. To get more detailed diagnosis steps, try searching “temperature” on Traeger.com, then click the Support link above the results for a list of articles on the topic. Or better yet, call our helpline at 1-800-TRAEGER, and one of our agents will be happy to help, any day of the year. TraegerService

Best Smoker Grill hands down !
I picked up my first Traeger grill this week before Christmas and I couldn’t be more happier with it. I have never smoked anything before this and it is super easy to learn. I used the 2-2-1 method for cooking pork loin ribs. 2 hours on, 2 hours covered in foil, and 1 Hour unwrapped. After 5 hours set on 225 degrees, my ribs came out awesome! I definitely highly recommend picking up a Traeger for your smoker grill.

Response from Traeger GrillsOct 26, 2023
Thanks for posting your review of the Pro 34. We are sorry to hear that you had such an unpleasant experience with your new Traeger. Usually, issues like this are related to an auger jam caused by old pellets, but the grill would typically have had to been used for a while for this to take place. In reality, at least based on your description, what you may have been witnessing is more likely the normal behavior of the auger. Although it is not commonly known, the auger feeds pellets at one speed and pauses as a way to control temperature. It occurs even during startup, but within a minute or two it will start turning again and more pellets get dropped into the firepot. For verification, simply put the heat baffle, drip tray and grating back in, then close the lid to see what happens. Odds are the grill will begin to heat up and work as expected. TraegerService

I love my new grill. It takes a little longer than my old propane grill but food tastes better with pellets. Plus I can use different pellets to get different tastes.

                        Embarrassed & Disappointed
Purchased my Pro 575 Wifi Pellet Grill and Smoker in Bronze from Home Depot end of April 2023. I have only used Traeger recipes from the Traeger app because this is my first Traeger and I'm not too fond of surprises. The first two times I ever used it, it went into cool-down mode about halfway through the cooking time of 5 & 6-hour cook times. I had to run it in shutdown mode and then shop vac it all out before I could even continue cooking. Very frustrating. The third time I used it, Pellets caught fire in the auger and I had to once again shut it down and clean it with a shop vac to restart it. I did eventually have a couple of flawless experiences so I went ahead and attempted a traeger.com brisket recipe. No issues during cook time but after an hour in "Keep Warm" mode the paint finish melted on the bronze lid and the black cooking chamber. This expensive pellet grill has fallen way short of expectations. I am willing to consider that maybe it is just this one and a replacement would deliver as promised. I'll write a review on my attempt to return it to Home Depot for a different one.
