Questions & Answers

Do you need the roller (shown in the video) for installation or can you press down manually on the planks to get the same result?

Asked by: AJ123
We have had this flooring in our movie room for the past 4 years and it was installed directly over a concrete floor. No roller was used, we walked the seems after installation and have absolutely no problems with separation of the planks.

Do you need to put down any type of cushioning material before floating the floor?

Asked by: canashar
No cushion material. The planks will flex and move on it. Use approved poly layer on cement if there is high moisture.

Can this product be installed over existing vinyl or does the old have to be removed first?

Asked by: hkennamer
I installed the new planks over the existing kitchen vinyl tiles and it worked great. P.S. none of the old tiles were loose.

what can I do to repair seams that have pulled apart?

We installed this flooring in our basement about 18 mos ago. There are now several places where the seams are lifting. We push them back down and the next day they have lifted again. During installation the instructions mentioned a special tape made with contact cement. I couldn't find it at our local store. Does it exist? Does it work? Where can I buy it? How do I install it?

Call the company to get a refund. Document your inquiries and keep asking about your claim. We had to answer some questions and provide photos, but eventually (I think it took about six months), we were given a refund for the purchased price, which in our case was a little more than $1,000.

Customer Reviews

Allure 6 in. x 36 in. Cherry Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring (24 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 1503.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product!!! I installed this flooring in my bathroom. I am not by any means a professional installer and I installed this flooring in less than two hours from start to finish (including toilet removal and re-installation). In my opinion, it's pretty hard to mess up installing this type of flooring. One recommendation I would offer is to get a vinyl tile cutter. I used a box cutter and it was easy enough to cut and snap, but getting perfectly even lines was virtually impossible. I just ordered a vinyl tile cutter and I will let you know how the next room goes. Overall, fantastic product, looks great. There was a minor odor at first but went away in a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installation Tip I picked up this tip from a professional installer. Immediately after positioning a plank to another plank, use a hair dryer and heat the edge all along the span where the adhesive is. No need to get it real hot, just warm. Then apply pressure by sliding your hand along the edge or if desired, use a roller. Just this slight amount of heat gets the adhesive on both pieces to bond tighter. If you notice any adhesive coming up through the seam, then you are getting it too hot. I did our bathroom this way a year ago and do not have a single edge that's coming up. The hair dryer trick can also be used to remove any planks which may need replacing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Product I have installed over 3000 sq feet of this product and it is outstanding. The thing to remember is floor preperation before installing this. Take the time to lay down new luan plywood if you need to. I read some reviews saying the seams were coming apart, I have not run into this at all. Roll all the seams with either a laminate roller or rent a floor roller to do this. This makes the glued seams impossible to pull apart. Weather and humidity do not factor in when the seams are rolled during installation. I use a utility knife and metal shears for the cutting, and it's very easy. Take your time and you will be very happy with the results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 5 year review - dont use in wet areas. One reason that one might select this flooring is by the perceived imperviousness to water… I knew that I wouldn't be able to evaluate this product until it had taken a fair amount of use, after all it is in my busy household. After five years, it's clear to see that dunk is getting between the seams and letting the floor bow up in places - just where our mud area is. It worked well for the past two years in the bathroom, but again water is causing the vinyl to let go. Maybe I will try an industrial adhesive when applying the replacement planks. The replacement process is easy enough, but this could be an annoyance in the long run.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Floor came unstuck My husband and I installed the stick together vinyl boards in a 900 sq foot basement. After only 48 hours 75% of them became unstuck. We did everything the instructions told us to do. The information said they were ok for concrete basements. Apparently not. We have had very good customer service from Home Depot who volunteered to act on our behalf in getting things sorted out. An inspector was sent to our home to inspect the floor about a month ago, and we have had no contact from Allure since, despite several phone calls from Home Depot. I am about to call them myself and will follow up with this review. I would not recommend Allure.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I do not write reviews but I am very disappointed in this floor. I purchased and installed approx 1000sqft and followed directions to the "T". I have installed all kinds of floors professionally and for my personal home and never had results like this. Nearly every plank in my living room (250sqft) is peeling up and about half in the other rooms. I tried rolling and heating and rolling and heating to no avail. I am now stuck with this. I was nervous about getting this because it seemed "to good to be true" and it was. I do not suggest this floor. Very easy but very disappointing. Is there something that can be done to help!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flooring I had this floor installed in the kitchen of a rental home we rent out and then installed in our kitchen. It is beautiful. It sweeps up easily and cleans great. The only thing it does show water makes when you drip on the floor, but you just wipe up. This was so easy to install and looks like a professional did it. You do not want to take a piece out because it says you have 15 min. until it bonds it's self real good, well maybe 5 seconds then it stuck. You can get it loose and the best way is probably wwith a heat gun on low. I am so happy with my new floor. Just make sure the floor you put it on is clean. No bumps because they will show through.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice floor, economical. I put it down all by myself and it was the only floor that fit my budge... Nice floor, economical. I put it down all by myself and it was the only floor that fit my budget. If a person wants more quality in a floor, then pay for it and don't complain about this one. This floor was better than carpet due to me having a dog. I also don't care about the warranty on it because I knew I would add a gloss to the floor and I put Zep's stain resistance all over the floor about 2 months after putting in down and it's beautiful. I've had this floor over a year now, and when I want to take the shine off and revert back to the original floor I use Zep's floor stripper or white vinegar and water.
